I initially thought the Strabane Town of Culture bid was a good idea. Unfortunately, Strabane people have been antagonised by an opaque process, the exclusion of some elected reps, & by being asked to jump through hoops by the British state, for investment that's needed anyway.

It's fair to say >90% of people in Strabane town vote nationalist/republican. Most would describe Strabane as 'under British rule' - as in, ruled by another country. They don't consider that they are 'part of the UK', as if the British state treats them as equals. It doesn't.

To the vast majority in Strabane town, to call it a "UK town" is antagonistic. You might agree or disagree with that (I agree with them), but they do feel antagonised. How much antagonism of your town and its people would you accept for investment you should be getting anyway?

Strabane randomly being the only place in Ireland to return a Liberal MP in 1906 is funny
The clocks are about to go back. Personally I'm setting mine back to 1906, when we were a proper country.

I fell short on two aspects here. 1. Unionism is incapable of claiming any kind of win and being satisfied with it - it is always on the back foot. 2. Unionist politicians have since been reminded of their own lawbreaking anyway and have been forced to pivot.
Here's what this is looking like. -PSNI send letters to nationalist politicians. -SoS steps in to ban the Orange march. -Nationalism claims victory, having repelled the march. -Unionism claims victory, having "exposed" nationalist politicians as "lawbreakers".

Hard to see what this remark from Wilson achieves. If he's wrong and Lockhart quits the DUP, this ages very poorly. If he's right, he's told Lockhart's base here she's made a nothing gesture... which surely pressures her to put even more distance between her and DUP leadership.

It's weird how saying "don't touch children against their will" is so offensive to so SO many people...

Carla Lockhart opposed peace for Garvaghy Rd residents. Carla Lockhart opposes harm reduction drug policy which saves lives. Carla Lockhart opposes puberty blockers which stop suicide. Carla Lockhart protested a march against genocide. Carla Lockhart's politics kills people.

A vote for Carla Lockhart is a vote for social murder. She may not have physically killed anyone, but she pushes policies which kill people. She has blood on her hands. If you vote for her, you're voting to kill people. If you vote against her, you are voting to save lives.

It's worth remembering there are people who look at the Democratic Unionist Party, of all things, and genuinely think to themselves "what a bunch of woke liberals".
DUP MP Carla Lockhart has quit her position as a party officer. The Upper Bann politician’s resignation could be the start of a chain of events leading to her resignation from the DUP. āœļø: @SuzyJourno belfasttelegraph.co.uk/news/…

Didn't realise that it was a *rape crisis centre* which folk were having a go at. All for the crime of telling people not to hug people who do not want to be hugged. The "anti-woke" brigade are really outraged at rape crisis centres now?

If your relative wants you to give them a hug, you can give them a hug. If your relative doesn't want you to give them a hug, don't give them a hug. If you insist on hugging your relative who doesn't want to be hugged, you are a creep. Hope this helps!

Whereas being a GB News journalist must be hard, backbreaking work Tom. You head down to the pub and coal miners buy you pints, I'm sure.
StatsForLefties is a well run account. Professional graphics, very regular content, high engagement. It should be reason enough to strip the out of work benefits from the person who runs it. She is obviously talented and very clearly isn’t incapable of employment.

I saw a Facebook post from Belfast Live about how 40 primary school kids from Harryville, Ballymena had never been able to return there after racist rioting. And the comment section would not have looked out of place at a Nazi rally.

You'll see a Facebook page post about hoarding asylum seekers into gas chambers 'or else they'll slaughter us all' And then you check the name of the page and it's like "Worried Mummies Of Coleraine šŸ„ŗšŸ‘‰šŸ‘ˆ"

It's a very sad, frightened existence to irrationally suspect anyone whose skin is too dark will rape and murder you / your family. Or that white people will be outnumbered and subjugated by immigrants. It sounds more like what racists want for immigrants than vice versa.
