7 Prepositions of Gospel Goodness
God’s glorious favor resting on us
Judgment Day already behind us
Our loving Father rejoicing over us
The Spirit of Christ living in us
God’s powerful angels all around us
Our Good Shepherd always with us
The Lord Jesus returning for us
During "October pastor appreciation month," I'm grateful for pastors who are more notorious for their kindness and servanthood than their giftedness and speaking, who love to pray more than be platformed, who’d rather share the Gospel with the lost than hang with the found.
Three Things Precious to Me
1. God has never been more sovereign, good, and trustworthy than he is in 2026.
2. Abba feels no pressure for awful things to make sense to us this side of heaven.
3. When hard providences compel us to cry out, “Why?” and “How long, O Lord?,” Abba comes near, validates our pain, and reveals more of Jesus to us.
7 Things Our Father Is
Mighty to save
Lavish with love
Abounding in mercy
Overflowing with joy
Extravagant with grace
Without equal in kindness
Always at work for our good
God's kindness leads us to repentance. My critical spirit leads to crushed spirits. My withholding encouragement is lousy leading. My prayer-less-ness leads me to living like a spiritual orphan. Abba, I want to be a conduit of your kindness today, not this other stuff.
· Jesus loves me, this I know—for the Bible Tells me so and the Spirit bears witness to it. Nothing is more essential, freeing, and transforming.
· Jesus knows me, this I love—for it frees me from posing, preening, and pretending.
At the end of the day when our morning devotions have evaporated, our energy is spent, the Adderall has worn off, the power nap was powerless and traffic was demonic… we can be less sweet and caring with our loved ones. Let’s keep this in mind this evening!
The Wait and Weight of Grace: The current challenging, painful, and/or confusing chapter isn’t the final one in our Story. We’re not in a dentist’s office for a root canal; we’re in Abba’s love and becoming 100% like Jesus.
· "In acceptance lieth peace." Amy Carmichael
· In the Gospel lieth all we need.
· In resentment lieth heart decay.
· In worry lieth sleep and joy thievery.
· The devil only and always "lieth."
· In Christ we truly “liveth.”
