Why are we (society) still accepting the term “SEN” or “SEND” in schools &education? Is it to excuse annexing young people when accommodations they need are inconvenient? I reuse to use the term- We are disabled and say so! Discomfort from realising
refusing access accommodations for disabled people is discrimination is an important step for educators to move towards actual inclusion (DW) #inclusion #DisabilityRights
Conversations around access so often make people feel like the problem for asking, and the building/organisation/company/service that you need accommodations from are defensive. We always want to know when we need to do better. #socialmodel
Lots of conversations this week about #youthvoice and #access - for us they are part of the same ethos & why #cocreation is fundamental to our work- value people as different & equal, listen to how they communicate, the art we make together belongs to us all.
People connected & creating together are authentically empowered to create change- a more inclusive and fair society, where everyone has a voice. Big aims, with tiny steps. #inclusive
