It really does feel like we're getting some pretty agressive luck regression on many fronts here. That's just how the cookie crumbles sometimes. I'd rather see them have great underliyings and lose games than them keep winning games with bad underliyings like we did in the past.

A Nova Scotia woman had precancerous cells on her cervix. That was two years ago. Pap smear. Abnormal cells. Referral to a gynecologist so they could find out if it was cancer. The referral sat for nine months. She finally gets an appointment. She shows up on time — 10 a.m., in her calendar. The office says it was at 9. Won’t see her. Won’t reschedule. Start over. New referral. She leaves crying. Seven more months go by. They call about an appointment she was never told about. She can’t take it. She’s on a TV contract. Miss it and they can sue her. Next opening: next year. They don’t even call her back. She has to chase them. She said the quiet part out loud: imagine dying of cervical cancer while you wait just to see a gyno. That is Canada’s “universal healthcare.” Not free care. A government monopoly that loses your referral, punishes you for their scheduling error, and hands a possible cancer case a calendar date in another year. Coverage on paper. Care on a waitlist. You pay the taxes either way. The state decides when you’re allowed to find out if you have cancer. This is the model they want to import as Medicare for All. Don’t.

You can't be serious. You can't actually be asking us to believe Canadian leaders didn't craft their pandemic responses based on politics. That would be insane.
As a medical doctor, I’m glad I don’t live in a nation in which the leader mixes politics with public health.

I think not supporting voter ID at this point is a pretty clear indication you don’t want fair elections, and we need to stop treating people who don’t want fair elections like they have a simple difference of opinion. freedom has been a relatively brief experiment. it’s at risk.

This New York Times "article" about Israel is such a journalistic atrocity that I actually feel stupid reading it out loud. If everyone at the NYT who is responsible for this is not fired, then the publication will lose whatever shred of credibility it has left.

What’s so insanely disingenuous about this is Platner’s side is the one that started all the culture wars he’s talking about. If he thinks culture wars are a “distraction” from important stuff, maybe he can tell his friends to cool it with drag queen story hour.
Graham Platner: “Every single breath we take discussing culture war stuff is a breath we are not talking about universal healthcare. It’s a breath we are not talking about going after wealth where it’s been hoarded. Not talking about breaking up corporate monopoly power. That’s what we need to be focusing on. But we do not sell people out. A politics that is willing to sell anyone out will eventually sell everyone out”

The Netherlands’ unrealized capital gains tax does not apply to real estate. As a result, investors are incentivized to shift capital from financial markets into income properties. This puts additional upward pressure on housing prices. The Dutch government has managed to screw the rich and the poor simultaneously.

What's hilarious about this question for the "Ethicist" is that the writer's closed-mindedness is sufficient to tell you which side she's on. nytimes.com/2025/09/17/style…

Hands up, don't shoot? Covington kids? Jussie Smollett? Bubba Wallace? Russia collusion? Hunter laptop is fake? Biden is fit to serve? Kamala is gonna win? Fine people? Black market rescues? Bat soup? Ivermectin? Covid Vax prevent infection? You're gonna have to be more specific.
What happens when irresponsible media personalities hype a conspiracy theory, only to see it unravel before their eyes?   We're finding out right now...

I voted against Trump in 2016 and 2020. Only in the last 8 months have I realized the scope of this mass manipulation. Only today did I realize he was banned on YouTube, which is why his old policy videos, which are going viral now, seem like new announcements. Staggering.
It’s crazy to look back and realize: 1. Trump was banned from Twitter for two years. 2. Trump was banned from YouTube for two years. 3. Trump was banned from Instagram and Facebook for two years. 4. The government pressured Facebook to censor dissenting voices as “misinformation”. 5. The government pressured Twitter to shadowban conservative accounts. 6. The government pressured Twitter to censor the Hunter Biden laptop story. 7. Trump has been hit with hundreds of lawsuits incurring $100-200 million in expenses over the last 8 years 8. Legacy media near-uniformly posted negative headlines about Trump 9. Google search results reflected and may have even amplified media bias The fact that he was able to win again despite all of this is a stunning triumph of the human spirit.

Inflation was low. The border was secure. And remember, they all said Trump was going to start World War III, and yet we had more peace around the globe than we had had in a generation in this country."

Democrats don't have a path to recovery. If they focus on identity, they will keep losing. If they stop focusing on identity, they will also lose. And they no longer have a media monopoly. As long as half the Democrat party is committed to unworkable and unpopular ideas, there is no comeback path.

Another remarkable thing about this clip is the casting of Singleton as if he’s the cultural aggressor, rather than a normal guy calmly pushing back against the redefinition of everything we’ve assumed since the dawn of time. He didn’t make this an issue; they did.

WHY TRUMP WON While the legacy media has a meltdown searching for hitherto undiagnosed psychoses in the electorate to explain its embrace of a Hitlerian strongman, the truth is much simpler than their fictions. This election is a reminder that after all the manufactured drama and overheated rhetoric, politics is still about issues. Whether you agreed with him or not, Trump ran a substantive campaign based on issues like the border, inflation, crime, and war. Harris ran on vibes, celebrity endorsements, name-calling (“convicted felon”, “fascist”), debunked hoaxes (“very fine people”), and platitudes (“democracy”). She would neither defend the Biden-Harris record nor say what she would do differently. When she did talk about specific issues, they were often stolen from Trump (child tax credit; no tax on tips; border funding). On the one issue where Democrats had an advantage, abortion, Trump deftly got ahead of the issue by rejecting a national ban and removing problematic language from the GOP platform. Harris wore out the issue by blatantly lying about Trump’s position and by exhibiting her own party’s extremism (nobody needed to see an abortion truck at the DNC). While Trump expanded his coalition with MAHA (health) and DOGE (government efficiency), Harris concluded her ersatz campaign by going all in on demonizing her opponent, pretending Madison Square Garden was a Nazi convention. The fact that voters saw through it should be reassuring, even if you don’t agree with the result. Voters want to know how a candidate will give them a better life and, increasingly, they have learned to tune out the rest as noise. While the legacy media creates excuses and impugns the motives of voters to explain why Trump won, the reason is simple: Trump is the candidate who spoke to voters’ concerns directly. It’s the issues, stupid.
