The Conservatives didn’t win as much as the NDP lost. The Conservatives got 50,000 less votes than 2024. Both the Vancouver and provincial election show a rejection of neoliberalism and that people want bold system-change ideas, not milquetoast centrism.

We're still counting up our receipts and building our reports for Elections BC.
But there's something we know for sure. We spent less than $400k to elect the whole COPE team.
Meanwhile, Ken Sim and ABC spent at least $2.5 million. They elected one.

ALT Black-and-white photo of COPE candidaets with fists and arms raised, celebrating. Below it, a bar chart compares campaign spending: a tall lavender bar labelled “Ken Sim & ABC, $2.5M~” next to a short red bar labelled “COPE, <$400K.” Beside the bars, red text reads “People power beat big money.”

Nothing because these questions are not binding and also don't make sense even if they feel good.

The drugs are ALREADY BANNED. How do you ban them twice? What a complete waste of money that plebiscite was.
Vancouver voters overwhelmingly opposed to open-air drug use

if you live in vancouver-yaletown, please please please vote BC NDP, even if you need to plug your nose to do so. it’s a super tight riding and only the BC NDP can stop the conservatives there.

Hi BC Conservative Candidate Margareta, here are screenshots of your financial agent saying that he is in favour of slavery, that eugenics is desirable, and homosexuality is a disease.
Another week, another violent attack in downtown Vancouver.
Last night, a man was attacked with a hammer at 2:00AM during a suspected robbery.
After 9 years of NDP disorder, headlines like this are the norm. They shouldn’t be.
Thank you @VancouverPD for the quick arrests.
The @Conservative_BC plan, Safe Streets for BC, will hire 250 more police officers for crime hotspots, add 50 Crown prosecutors, expand court capacity, and publicly track repeat offending & bail compliance – so our justice system is accountable for results.

The democratic socialists from @COPEVancouver just elected a dozen candidates in Vancouver’s city elections.
How did the party go from nearly dead to reshaping Vancouver politics? Here’s 10 things the party did to rebuild.

Every single post about what Pete Fry and the new council can/will do makes me like them more.
But also refreshing to see these people say the quiet part out loud. You don't want homeless people to have homes. You want them to disappear.
I trust the voters of Vancouver over a paper owned by an American hedge fund thanks.

I’m levitating today in the warm afterglow of a left-wing surge in my home city of Vancouver!
Democratic socialists and progressives united to take on the power of big money and the politics of fear and division.
The parties were strategic in agreeing on a fixed number of candidates, and narrowed the field for one progressive mayoralty candidate.
This was key – working together across differences is what’s needed in these scary political times. Congrats to @COPEVancouver, @OneCityVan, and the @VanGreens: it wasn’t always easy, but it worked.
Cheers and flowers for all the candidates and volunteers who threw down hard on the ground game: this is how we build power from below! People organized relentlessly for a city government for the 99% – and they *won*.
Today Vancouver belongs to the many, not the money.
Congrats to Mayor-elect @PtFry, super councillor @seanorr, @ynd_jnd members Solomon Yi-Kieran and Jamie Han, and everyone involved in this thrilling victory.

As someone who works directly with people struggling with addiction, homelessness, and mental health challenges, including in Vancouver's Downtown Eastside, I can tell you this:
Ken Sim and ABC didn't make things better, they poured money into policing, launched initiatives like Project Barrage, and failed to meaningfully address the root causes of homelessness, addiction, and public disorder.
Instead of working with others in solving many of these problems, they pushed them into other neighbourhoods.
And that's why I believe ABC got demolished at the ballot box.
People could see the approach wasn't working, and they voted for change.
You cannot police your way out of poverty, homelessness, or addiction.
Moving a problem isn't solving it, it's just making it someone else's problem!

"Vancouver is a progressive city. We’re not a city of Ken Sims and Dallas Brodies. We are a city of progressive values, and people in Vancouver showed up tonight in a big, big way, and I’m so proud of us."

And big love to @seanorr, who absolutely triumphed over a vile and sustained hate campaign. Vancouverites decisively repudiated those grotesque politics yesterday. I could not be happier for him, and for all of us.
Now, let's get to work. /end

Great response from Orr. Time for a more mature level of politics and civic discourse. Citizens have had enough BS and can see right wing governance has not helped or supported workers and families. Time to end corporate socialism and creat prosperity for everyone.
