Extended adolescence is the spiritual disease upstream from every problem. And no, I'm not finger wagging here. This is a cancer I saw in myself, and it sometimes resurfaces. Rejecting Boomer Woodstock fantasies of being "forever young" and "having fun" is of utmost importance.

Best Safety in The B1G Ten ☔️
Alex McLaughlin, Washington
Safety (#7)
While he did give up Nebraska’s only touchdown of the game, McLaughlin scored a touchdown of his own and had several big hits
🧵⬇️
UW and the Seahawks are in fairly similar positions. Very strong defensively with offensive woes. Primarily at O Line & RB.
The difference?
JS can grab the best G and a top RB in a trade.
In CFB, roster is set.
Imagine UW offense with a strong presence at C & RG and an elite RB.
UW vs Nebraska Thoughts:
Had a great trip to Nebraska. Lincoln was friendly and welcoming (until the water bottles started raining down). My nephew was on a recruiting trip to Nebraska so I got a good look at the facilities. Pretty similar to UW except the dedicated dining hall for athletes with unbelievable food.
High Points:
Coach Fisch punting on 4th & 1. When you got Hunter, punt that ball. He’s incredible to watch. He’s trusting his defense and special teams.
DCB played amazing. Disruptive with a sack. Continues to excel.
The Death Row Dawgs Defense showed out. Hats off to @CoachBOdom @CoachAVH & @CoachKaufusi Compressed the pocket and maintained control. Colandrea was totally ineffective. On the back end, @STaylorMays & @CoachJRich had our secondary hawking for takeaways. Loved seeing 3 safeties, Gavin come in & bringing McLaughlin down in the box.
On offense, it’s nuanced. Obviously our struggling offense played against a great Nebraska defense. We have ZERO run game at the moment. Losing Lando really hurts that. The false starts were excessive and drive killers. I thought Elijah played solid, but had no run game. Receivers didn’t get much separation for much of the night.
Really proud of how Demond played and handled himself. He’s gone through adversity (a good thing) and has decided he wants to fight and support his team.
A scenario i discussed on Friday night was the offense stalling out and no momentum, and a pissed off Demond comes in off the bench and starts torching them.
Just think about it from Demond’s perspective. I’m guessing here, but all week he knows he’s not starting, and he has to hear about how “Great” Colandrea is. And he’s sitting there thinking “Fuck that, I’m way better than him.” Demond has the capacity to be a very good college QB. He does have some physical limitations (his height and vision), but most of the regression this year has been mental (worsened by inconsistent line play & injuries at RB).
So who is our QB?
I think Demond starts against Penn State. I think we might see both at different times the rest of the way. Coach Fisch will pick whoever he thinks gives us the best chance to win.
There’s also a real chance that this adversity he’s faced frees him up to grab the starting job and not let go.
Really want to see some semblance of a run game the rest of the way. Bonner is looking more confident. Hopefully Limar can continue to stay healthy and find his flow. Maybe we get another guy back from injury this year?
Lawson balled out and should rarely be off the field.
We have a team and a culture building with this 2026 roster. Energy is there. They’re prepared and locked in.
See you Saturday at the Greatest Setting in College Football.
Go Dawgs!!!
Hats off to Demond. Great teammate on the field. Dialed in. Came in and did his thing and got the win. Big time stuff. Adversity builds you or breaks you. Attaboy.
That’s not what I know.
Actually, he TOTALLY gave up on his team last night in a team meeting.
Literally lost the team.
Cal HC Tosh Lupoi on his message postgame
“Main message postgame was, I’m not going to give up. That’s one thing, I can promise you that. Fighting my ass off…I’m as sick as anybody. You hear the story, tied or winning at halftime. I believe in them, I believe they’ll reflect myself as far as continuing to fight.”
