Site photo update from #LlamaCroft_HR4 now the scaffolding is all now finally dropped. Both houses are now finished externally except verandas, and the utility connections begin this week. we’ll be presenting at @FuturebuildNow this week @Grain_Archi
A beautiful moment this weekend as our garden clay was being applied to our home made lathe from construction waste. Our first weekend of volunteers for the year did an amazing job. @LlamaCroft_HR4
Before during and after the first #PlasteringParty of the year @LlamaCroft_HR4. This is clay from the garden going into home made lath made from construction waste. @Grain_Archi
What a generous contribution to visualising building fabric performance for us all to learn from....

Urgent Hivemind Help Please! We desperately need an ASHP designer and installer for our #Bio-based #Passivhaus self-build home in Hereford. Any recommendations welcome please! We had another proper #GrandDesigns moment… thank you!!
So what exactly is the “more nuanced approach” needed that justifies this demolition, @BBCNews ? Don’t leave us on such tender hooks after 3 years of campaigning… bbc.com/news/articles/crl3nz…
Seminal moment for #LlamaCroft_HR4 with the airtightness test on Friday. Very proud of the @Grain_Archi team and @firth_Construct on their first project going for #Passivhaus certification. Great stuff to date.
“You get more guarantees and measurement of a firearm in the US than you do from a new home in the UK” punchy start from Richard Jack of @BuildTestUK at #retrofit #revisited hosted by Building Performance Network
“Good to hear only 50% of retrofits have non-compliant ventilation, as with new homes, 90% are delivered with non-compliant ventilation systems” - scary industry insights from Ian Mawditt and Zack Gill from their BPE experience @CIBSE
Great turnout for our 3rd and final #RetrofitRevisit workshop today at @UWEBristol with Building Performance Network. Thanks to @UKRI_News @innovateuk @CIBSE for supporting.
A seminal day for #LlamaCroft_HR4 as the scaffolding drops and the final door is installed ahead of the air test on Friday… #BioBased #Passivhaus @Grain_Archi
Handmade garden #clay tile making time! Freshly dug from the garden then thrown, folded, cut, and thrown some more to weed out any inconsistencies, stones, or air bubbles. To be used in #LlamaCroft_HR4 kitchen
Garden #clay tiles are then cut out using a simple stamp. The tiles are then transferred to a board so they can be transported to a kiln for firing. Glazes tbc - watch this space… @Grain_Archi
And the first results are in! The non-certified project neighbouring our #LlamaCroft_HR4 performed exceptionally well today in its preliminary airtightness test. Setting a high bar for next week's test of our #Passivhaus... @Grain_Archi @firth_construct #Biobased
#ReuseSummit2024 cosmic nugget: new blast-furnace steel releases 28x the carbon emissions compared to re-used steel (EPD data). And re-used steel can be cheaper. Bargain! @asbp_uk #CircularEconomy
#ReuseSummit2024 is underway with provocations coming from the @asbp_uk team, including this eye-opener about how staggeringly under-utilised our doors are in the Built Environment. Maybe we should be designing with this reality-check in mind… or get MUCH better at re-use
Many are concerned about the quantities of construction waste going to landfill, but find the challenges of a #circulareconomy in the built environment too daunting
Join us on 14 Nov at #ReuseSummit2024 in London to hear from those already enabling #reuse

Yes. What we need is a national climate literacy communication plan. This was the No 1 ask from the Climate Assembly of 2020. Governments say we must bring people with us. Tell them the facts and they will demand more radical action @MikeHudema
It is verging on hopeless. Just look at the comments under posts about climate change from people like @Ed_Miliband . Governments have never broadcast the facts of what we are facing to the public. We expect them to understand just from David Attenborough documentaries when they have the billionaire Press and legions of bots telling them day-in-day-out that it isn’t really a big threat. The fatal mistake governments made is not broadcasting the scientific facts to the public and the biggest mistake activists and green politicians made was not demanding it. #cop29
It was a delight to host our first #PHopendays at #LlamaCroft_HR4 with homeowners, architects, designers, engineers, and toddlers all turning out to learn a thing or two, or to play with the chickens! See you next year! @Grain_Archi @PassivhausTrust
