Americans Should Be Furious After Hearing This
Senator Marco Rubio says Americans “They've worked here their entire lives. They retire. They get $800, $900, a $1,000 a month from Social Security. — Somebody who just got here from Cuba 3 months ago — is given $1,500 a month”
“So imagine if you've been working here for 40 years and your Social Security check is smaller than the benefits going to a 28 year old, Able body person who just got here.
That's real. That happens. That's happening every day. That makes no sense.”

For the record....
Too often, discussions about Lebanon and Israel have been framed as a choice between Lebanese sovereignty and Israeli security.
That is a false choice; a sovereign Lebanon and a secure Israel are mutually reinforcing objectives.
For Lebanon, this means continuing the difficult but essential work of strengthening national institutions, restoring public confidence in government, and ensuring that the state alone exercises legitimate authority over the use of force.
For Israel, it means recognizing that long-term security will ultimately be achieved through the emergence of a capable Lebanese partner committed to enforcing its sovereignty, and disarming and diminishing the influence of Hezbollah. So far no such partner exists

Lebanon's Bank Bosses Wired $1 Billion Abroad While Freezing Your Deposits
While Lebanon's banks locked more than a million depositors out of their savings, the chairmen and board members of those same banks were quietly wiring their own money abroad. Now, for the first time, the judiciary has the names — and it wants the cash back.
The Financial Public Prosecution, led by Judge Maher Chaito, has so far received responses from six banks via Banque du Liban Governor Karim Souaid — and the transfers from those six alone exceed $100 million.
With 60 banks in Lebanon (46 commercial, 14 investment), the total could approach $1 billion once all responses arrive.
About 60 individuals have already been summoned — roughly all board members of the six banks that responded — and the prosecution says it has legal authority to seize funds from anyone who delays or refuses.
Bank lawyers are already floating a defense: what their clients did was "legal, even if unethical." The prosecution's counter-move would convert the recovered "fresh" dollars into mandatory reserves at BDL, with dollar-equivalent credits issued back to the bankers.
What to watch:
Whether the remaining 54 banks comply or mount a political lobbying campaign against the prosecution — judicial sources say both scenarios are live.

Dear Friends, Supporters and Sponsors
I hope this finds you well.
I wanted to reach out personally and share with you our latest.
The American Lebanon Education Foundation usalef.org/ is launching a new project in New York: the ALEF Youth Sovereignty Academy.
The goal is simple. Give Lebanese American youth and the broader NYC community the knowledge and leadership skills they need to stand for a free and sovereign Lebanon. That means workshops, digital learning modules, and practical civic education grounded in transparency, rule of law, and merit.
We are raising $35,000 on Crowdfunder to launch the first cohort. Crowdfunder as you know is fee-free, so every dollar goes to the program.
What Your Support Makes Possible....With $35,000 we will:
• Develop a complete, values-based curriculum and digital learning modules
• Host 6 to 8 high-quality workshops and community events in New York City
• Produce professional educational video content accessible to the global Lebanese diaspora
• Provide materials, certificates, and modest support for participating youth
• Measure impact and publicly report results with full transparency
Why This Matters Now
Lebanon stands at a crossroads. The Diaspora is one of its greatest remaining assets. Educated, organized, and values-driven young leaders in cities like New York can help shape a different future: one based on sovereignty instead of domination, transparency instead of corruption, and merit instead of sectarian allegiance.
ALEF has already built a significant research capacity, launched a speaker series, and engaged policymakers. This Academy turns education into action at the community level.
If this mission matters to you, here is how you can help:
1. Donate what you can and
2. Share the page with 2 or 3 people who care about Lebanon

Finally.... Lebanon's New School Curriculum Launches After 30 Years
Lebanon hasn't overhauled its national school curriculum since 1997. That changes this academic year.
The Educational Center for Research and Development is launching an optional experimental phase of the new curricula, with mandatory rollout coming only gradually over the next several years.
The experimental phase will test learning units in three class levels: nursery one, nursery three, and second grade, with schools able to volunteer to participate during part of the current year.
The rollout follows a two-year cycle model: year one trains teachers and schools; year two implements the curriculum — designed to avoid forcing an unprepared transition on the system.
The new history curriculum, absent for 60 years in its updated form, will use a "multiple perspectives" approach rather than a single mandated national narrative.
Citizenship education becomes a "transversal competence" woven across all subjects, replacing its previous silo in civic education classes alone.
Why it matters:
A generation of Lebanese students has grown up on a curriculum written before the civil war's wounds had even fully scarred over — how the new framework handles contested history will be its first real test.

🚨 QALIBAF: “IRAN CANNOT SURVIVE LIKE THIS MUCH LONGER”
Sources close to Qalibaf say he privately admits the U.S. blockade is working, Iran has effectively lost Hormuz, its economy is collapsing and the regime is losing control.
“We all stole billions, but we can no longer keep the people under control for much longer.”
He reportedly says Tehran badly misjudged Trump—and now sees war near the U.S. midterms as its best path back to negotiations.

The Arab League Putting Hezbollah Disarmament in Writing
Arab foreign ministers meeting in Cairo this week just endorsed a specific text, that backs the Lebanese government's drive to monopolize weapons and security decisions, directly naming Hezbollah's disarmament as a goal.
The text also backs Lebanon's sovereignty, independence, and the government's exclusive authority to decide matters of war and peace — language that directly counters Hezbollah's long-held position that its weapons are a strategic deterrent, not a political question.
The resolution expresses full Arab League solidarity with Lebanon and support for the government's efforts to extend its authority over all Lebanese territory.
Bottom Line:
Arab League backing for Hezbollah disarmament, in writing, marks a notable shift in regional posture — and hands the Lebanese government a multilateral reference point. Let's see how will the Lebanese government perform

The Lebanon Sanctions, Stabilization, and Support Act is a strong signal from Congress that it would endorse a tough-love approach by the administration. This bill conditions US support for the LAF on the military’s execution of government directives regarding Hezbollah and its weapons. It also demonstrates a keen awareness of Beirut’s long track record of unfulfilled commitments.
The Trump administration has invested significant diplomatic capital in the Lebanese-Israel talks. Barring a change in the Lebanese approach to the pilot zones, however, the Trilateral Framework will lose all momentum and wither.
It’s not clear that conditioning US military assistance will compel Lebanon to reverse course; the approach hasn’t worked on economic reforms. But Washington can’t—and shouldn’t—bankroll Beirut’s indecision.
Whether on the economy or on disarming Hezbollah, the United States should not help the Lebanese government if it doesn’t help itself.

Hezbollah Starts Talking Settlement — and Leaning on Tehran to Deliver It
For a party that built its identity on resistance as a permanent posture, the shift is striking: Hezbollah figures are now openly floating a regional settlement as the preferred path forward, tying their hopes to Iran's negotiating hand with Washington rather than to battlefield outcomes.
Hezbollah MP Hasan Ezzeddine said clearly that "things are heading toward a regional settlement in which Lebanon would be an essential part" — framing Iran as a capable regional power whose negotiations with the U.S. could force an Israeli withdrawal.
The new language explicitly sidelines the idea that weapons alone can recover occupied land — a notable departure from decades of core Hezbollah doctrine.
Ezzeddine acknowledged direct Israel-Lebanon talks recently "reached a dead end," and that no solution can be found for Lebanon independently of broader regional dynamics.
Bottom Line:
Hezbollah signaling openness to a negotiated settlement brokered through Tehran marks a real shift in register — though whether Iran's leverage with Washington is as strong as Ezzeddine suggests remains the central open question.

Hezbollah Propaganda machine dead in the water?
For more than two decades, Lebanese television screens have been filled with figures promoting Hezbollah’s propaganda.
They became known for hyperbole and exaggeration, for raised voices and pointed fingers, and even for threats. But these voices did not appear in the media out of nowhere, especially in an era when traditional media dominated. Hezbollah cultivated them, supplied them with talking points, gave them access to platforms, and assigned them roles and messages it wanted conveyed without formally adopting those messages itself, careful to preserve the image it sought to project.
Recently, however, Hezbollah has appeared to distance itself from the very media ecosystem it helped create.
But can Hezbollah really disown, overnight, the very figures it cultivated, now that it has lost its battles and adopted a policy of silence over what is happening in southern Lebanon?
Is the party’s attempt to distance itself enough to erase how these figures acquired their standing and credibility in the first place?
And will this disavowal of what they say be accompanied by any genuine reckoning, when there has been no discernible change in the rhetoric itself?
Go figure....

Former President Michel Aoun implicated in Port Blast
Six years after the August 4, 2020 explosion that killed more than 220 people and leveled swathes of Beirut, a Lebanese prosecutor has formally asked the investigating judge to charge former president Michel Aoun — the most senior figure yet named in the case.
Discriminatory Public Prosecutor Judge Mohammad Saab submitted a 260-page opinion to Judge Tarek Bitar on Tuesday, specifying criminal responsibility for more than 70 defendants, including Aoun, former ministers Ghazi Zaiter, Youssef Fenianos, and Ali Hassan Khalil, and former PM Hassan Diab.
The charge against Aoun: he had prior knowledge of the ammonium nitrate stored at the port and its danger, yet took no action and did not refer the matter to the Higher Defense Council, according to a judicial official who spoke to AFP.
Bitar — who survived years of Hezbollah-led campaigns to remove him — could issue formal charges in the coming weeks; the case had been paralyzed since 2023 before resuming last year.
A key jurisdictional knot remains: Bitar himself believes prosecuting a sitting or former president falls outside his powers, meaning a political and legal battle over the Supreme Council for the Trial of Presidents and Ministers may be next.
What to watch:
Whether Bitar issues indictments before year-end — and whether the jurisdictional dispute over trying a former president triggers a new round of legal paralysis — will define whether this case finally delivers accountability or stalls again. Time will tell.

Lebanon's $70 Billion Financial Gap Law: Who Gets the Bill?
Lebanon's parliament is debating a financial gap law that will determine whether the country's catastrophic banking collapse — estimated at roughly $70 billion in losses — is treated as a shared natural disaster or a crime with identifiable perpetrators. The answer shapes whether depositors or the powerful pay first.
The bill, referred to parliament on December 29, 2025 and still under amendment, covers how losses are distributed across depositors, banks, the Banque du Liban, and the state — but critics argue it must first audit who created the gap before assigning who absorbs it.
Approximately $32 billion was transferred abroad between mid-2018 and mid-2020; around $13 billion flowed through subsidy programs with documented leakage; and Sayrafa platform losses alone are estimated at $2.5 billion — all requiring investigation before losses are distributed.
The IMF has stressed that shareholders and junior creditors must bear losses before depositors, and that any state contribution must align with debt sustainability — a sequencing the current draft risks bypassing.
Why it matters:
The law that emerges from parliament will decide whether Lebanon's small depositors — who had no hand in the Ponzi-style financial engineering that collapsed the system — end up paying the bill for those who did.

An IMF visit this week led by Mission Chief Ernesto Ramirez Rigo is expected to spark a standoff over a controversial proposal: temporarily replacing most banks’ management with independent administrators.
The IMF wants each bank’s financial position independently assessed before its restructuring, with administrators empowered to safeguard assets and ensure auditors have access to necessary information.
Will this ever happen? Maybe in your dreams. Lebanese want to keep the status quo and will reject anything proposed by the IMF or the United States. They want zero reform, zero accountability and zero performance. Mark my words.
An Administration of morons in power
In fact, the Lebanese side rejects extending this removal to most of the banking sector. It argues that banks’ losses cannot be separated from those of BDL and the state. Go figure these idiots....

Military Prosecutor Formally Charges 14 in Hezbollah-Linked Spy Network
The cross-border sabotage network case has taken its next formal step. Government Commissioner to the Military Court Judge Claude Ghanem has filed a full indictment, expanding the charged individuals and detailing the specific accusations for the first time.
Ghanem's indictment covers 14 individuals — 6 detained and 8 at large — up from the 5 members we reported referred for prosecution on Sep. 13.
The charges are serious: forming a criminal group to undermine state authority, committing terrorist acts using explosive devices and drones, smuggling people across the Syrian border, and possessing unlicensed military weapons and detonators.
The fugitive known as "Hajj Alaa" — identified as a Hezbollah official who provided shelter, financing, and logistical support — remains at large, as do six others charged with terrorism; L'Orient Today notes the network was reportedly run from Russia by a former Syrian regime officer.
The full file has been referred to First Military Investigative Judge Ghada Abu Alwan for expanded interrogations and formal arrest warrants.
What to watch:
Whether Lebanese security forces can locate and detain the eight fugitives — including "Hajj Alaa" — will determine how far this prosecution can actually reach
