This is the AI cyber warning we should pay attention to.
100+ organisations, including OpenAI, Microsoft, Google and Anthropic, are saying we have a “limited window” to strengthen cyber defences.
But the most important part?
“Status quo security won’t be enough.”
AI doesn’t need to invent new weaknesses. It can find, chain and exploit the ones we already have, faster and at scale.
Unpatched systems. Excessive privileges. Weak authentication. Misconfiguration. Technical debt.
We don’t need to wait for the next generation of AI to fix those.
The window is now. 🔐

The critical PHP security patches have now been released.
Two critical vulnerabilities (CVE-2026-109618 and CVE-2026-109619), both rated CVSS 9.2, have been addressed.
Updated versions are available for PHP 8.2, 8.3, 8.4 and 8.5.
If you haven’t already, now is the time to identify affected systems, prioritise internet-facing services and get those patches deployed.
There are no complete mitigations, so patching really is the priority here.

I resigned from Anthropic today. I spent the last three years doing pretraining research at both OpenAI and Anthropic. Neither company is acting responsibly. They are racing straight to self-improving superintelligence and gambling with our lives. More thoughts below.

Jacob is correct here—we really do earnestly believe AI could kill all humans! I personally think it is >10% within the next decade. I believe Anthropic is trying its best, but we do not yet have a plan to solve alignment for superintelligence and are not clearly on track to.
Replying to @hilbertspaess
The people building AI earnestly believe that it could kill us all by the end of the decade. This is not a marketing stunt. If anything, many executives and senior researchers will couch their phrasing in the press to sound sensible - but I hear the same people express fear privately. No other human activity poses this level of danger.
