I'm grateful to have been given the opportunity to instigate Vol 9 No 2 of @EcolCitizen and contribute two pieces to it.

The human supremacists are out in full force.
Honestly, the amount of messages I've seen from people saying the tiger should have been shot is rage-inducing. A man enters what little space a tiger has left and the tiger HAS to be annihilated instantaneously? Sickening.
I've been contemplating writing about this story for Earth Tongues, especially as it relates to my philosophical interest in enclosure, but it's simply too depressing. What I can say is that events like these provide rupture, however briefly. Suddenly, we remember the wild.

🌱 Environmental humanities writers, please stop using these phrases:
'more than humans'
'human and more-than-human'
'more-than-human lives'
'More-than-human and human animals'
They imply beings hierarchically 'beyond' humans, or defined in relation to humans as the baseline.

🌿 For those interested, I've created large composite images comparing the old TEC site with the new.
View/download high-res images:
drive.google.com/drive/folde…
While this isn't an exhaustive comparison, you can explore the complete historical site here:
web.archive.org/web/*/ecolog…
I've also added a clean pop-up linking to the archive (bottom right). I have to say, web design is rather fun, though I fear I'm losing my rustic ways and love of the analogue!
It's finally done. The new @EcolCitizen website is here!
ecologicalcitizen.net/
I'm going to post some comparison images between the old and new sites later this weekend.

After weeks of hard work and a steep learning curve, the revamp of ecologicalcitizen.net is almost complete. It's a surreal position to be in—having gone from a small outreach role in 2024 to taking on several editorial duties and finally developing/maintaining the new website.
A new era. I'm singlehandedly developing the next site for The Ecological Citizen from scratch—using different software and web hosting, plus an updated structure and design. Treating it as a 9–5, because the journal can't continue otherwise. Challenging, but an absolute honour.
