"We suck right now, but it's OK." “Seeing the ball go through the net is big for me." "I'm hopeful that we get to do this every single year." UPDATED Hall-Monmouth breakdown; quotes from both coaches and Rodney Brown, plus videos: app.com/story/sports/college… via @asburyparkpress

King Rice: "I'm hopeful we do this every single year. It was great for their fans." Holloway seems open to it as well. Turnout was good -- both fan bases made it a fun night.

Holloway also gave a ton of credit to Monmouth, which is well deserved. The Hawks brought it defensively.

Holloway on the DNPs: Kabba (still a hamstring) and Parker ('he has some work to do'). Said Kareem Thomas tweaked his groin during the game.

Holloway: “We looked awful. We embarrassed ourselves today. It starts with me and goes all the way down to the players.”

The winning possession

Final: Seton Hall 53, Monmouth 50 It wasn't an oil painting, but Rodney Brown and Simeon Wilcher delivered late for the Pirates. 5 takeaways, more coming: app.com/story/sports/college… via @asburyparkpress

Rodney Brown triple from the right corner -- pass by Roddie Anderson -- puts the Hall up 53-50 with 6 seconds left. Notable that Sha entrusted Anderson to run the offense on that possession.

Holloway gave the end of his bench some time midway through the second half. That's what these exhibitions are for -- getting a look at everyone. He's played all 13 available bodies.

Half: Seton Hall 33, Monmouth 29 Turnovers: Hall 11, Hawks 11 From deep: Hall 2-12, Hawks 1-7 Elijah Fisher and Terry Copeland carried the Pirates. Rodney Brown's two assists were works of art. The rest of the passing -- a struggle.

A bunch of last-minute arrivals bumped this crowd up to closer to 3,000 now and pretty loud. Great atmosphere for October. Superb start for Elijah Fisher -- 6 points, 2 boards, 2 floor burns and a deflection. Set a high-intensity tone. Hall leads 11-5 at the under-16.
