It has been an absolute honor to have worked with Dr. Laura Lewis (@lauradata) as her first PhD student. She is an inspiring, brilliant scientist, and the best mentor I could have asked for. I can't wait to see all of the great work that comes from the Lewis Lab!
I have successfully defended my doctoral dissertation entitled ~ "Brain dynamics of behavioral state transitions across sleep and wakefulness" ~ Feeling incredibly grateful to have had this opportunity, and very excited to explore where my career might take me next 🎉
I had the opportunity to interview @Arshiya_San for the @OHBM_Trainees blog! Warmed my heart when they said "it has helped that I genuinely love science - many challenges feel much less severe when doing something I deeply enjoy. "

We made it! We are over at PP15 talking about a sequence of activation across subcortial structures during behavioral arousal 🧠
This figure is one of my favorites. We found that the subsequent arousal state (continued behavior or a lapse directly into non-behavior) is reflected in the thalamus, but NOT the cortex!
Ever wonder how wakefulness unfolds across the brain? Our ~new paper~ begins to address this question by investigating the moment when behavior returns after a period of unresponsiveness. We found that a sequence of activation unfolds across the thalamus! @NatureComms
Our lab was featured in a documentary on BBC, "How to Sleep Well". Dr. Lewis explained how CSF moves into the brain during sleep, and I got my 1 second of fame by posing as the subject 😂
Made a cute little sticker as a holiday present for my lab. I definitely could not have submitted our paper, gotten the preprint out, and resubmitted my F31 proposal all in the last week without their support. I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again, I love the Lewis Lab!
