Imagine going back to October 2024 and telling Canadian oil & gas execs: - Trudeau, Guilbeault Eby gone - Strait of Hormuz war, WTI > $100 - Liberals adopted energy superpower agenda - New west coast oil pipeline designated in national interest - TMX full - Keystone XL/ Southbow Bridger moving forward - Conservative BC government - LNG Canada Phase 2 FID’d - Natural gas gigascale data centres FID’d - Emissions cap scrapped, IAA removed from almost all O&G projects - 100% immediate and permanent expensing for capital investments

BC PATRIOTS ARE IN CONTROL.
David Eby's cynical snap election call is completely BACKFIRING as BC Conservatives are projected to win a massive majority. This is absolutely beautiful.

They're just making shit up now 😂 Prospera only has one well in LSD 7 SEC 33 *anywhere*, and it has been producing since 2025. The desperation gets funnier by the day.
Luseland 7-33 | Shut in since 2017 after historically producing 60–65 bbl/d. Prospera is targeting restored production through enhanced oil recycling, upgraded pump capacity, and improved sand management. $PEI.V

I think there's an important distinction to be made between "having good assets, a well run business, and being attractively priced in the equity markets" -- and "being the next CNRL". Cenovus and Suncor fall in to this category, absolutely, especially if you're looking for upstream duration. CNRL is CNRL because they execute unlike anyone else. Compare their acquisition of Chevron Canada vs. Cenovus' acquisition of Athabasca. Because I can't share my estimates on here, I'm using street consensus delta preceding/following the deal. CNRL paid 25% less in a $65-70 price environment than Cenovus paid in a $80-90 price environment, for oil sands/Duvernay assets. Cenovus will have to invest material cashflow to realize the full potential from the Athabasca assets while CNRL's purchase was self funding. Cenovus will make out well with their acquisition, but it wasn't a CNRL-esque one. They're executing different playbooks. So is Suncor, though I'd say they're closer to CNRL than Cenovus. My problem isn't really that any of these companies lack any merit individually... they're just... not CNRL.

No, it’s not.
Is Cenovus the new CNQ? Veteran value investor @KimSharingValue of Sionna Investment Managers picked Cenovus Energy (CVE.TO) before it doubled—and she believes there's still more upside ahead. Cenovus remains one of her largest holdings at roughly 5% of the portfolio. In fact, Shannon sold Canadian Natural Resources (CNQ.TO) in favour of Cenovus, believing it offers greater growth potential. She points to a highly regarded management team with significant skin in the game, a strong track record of acquisitions, and potential benefits from changes to Canada's energy regulations and tax regime. With oil around $100 a barrel and consolidation reshaping Canada's energy sector, could Cenovus become the new gold standard for Canadian oil stocks?
