Proud to have fought alongside hundreds, if not thousands, of activists to ban horse carriages in New York City over the years. Thanks to @SpeakerMenin, @Lynn4NYC, @ChrisMarteNYC, @Harvey4council, the Animal Welfare Caucus, and the @NYCCouncil members who signed on to co-sponsor, we will see the day where no more horses are forced into NYC traffic. We are so grateful!

📣 PROTEST AT PRET OFFICE On Wednesday, we went to the corporate office of @Pret. Pret execs promised to stop making money off of Frankenchickens. Animals who grow so enormously quickly they suffer from heart attacks, broken legs, and body burns. They’ve had eight years to act, but have failed to. And now they’ve pushed the deadline back to 2032, with no publicly detailed plan as to how they will make good on the already-once-broken promise. Millions of chickens cannot wait a moment longer. Hold Pret accountable. Join us in demanding that Pret publish a clear, public plan for how it will phase out Frankenchickens. ✍️ Sign now: ae.onl/9YqSDu

I made a few important mistakes in this podcast, and I want to correct them. 1. I meant Michigan, not Mississippi. We found cage-free eggs in Michigan sold at prices comparable to eggs from caged hens in Ohio. Meaning Kroger lies when it says cage-free is an affordability issue. 2. I couldn’t remember the names of some of the scientific studies and books I referenced. Here they are: Study: Animal welfare messaging can reduce meat consumption. Interventions to Reduce Meat Consumption by Appealing to Animal Welfare: Meta-analysis and Evidence-Based Recommendations (2021), by Maya Mathur and colleagues. The researchers analyzed 100 studies and found that exposing people to information about animal suffering can reduce meat consumption, purchasing, or related intentions, at least in the short term. lnkd.in/gkt9J78u Book: The welfare benefits of ending cages for hens: Welfare Footprint of Cage-Free Laying Hens, by the Welfare Footprint Institute. The research estimates that moving hens from conventional cages into cage-free aviaries prevents thousands of hours of suffering per hen over her laying life. Hens in aviaries can perform natural behaviors that cages deny them. Read the research. lnkd.in/gBy8vDpu I'd explain a few other things differently, but overall, I’m proud of the conversation and grateful for the chance to discuss cage-free campaigns, animal rights, this political movement, and Animal Equality's work to hold Kroger accountable for its promise to end cages for hens. I asked Jeremy to ask me any questions he had. I am not afraid of questions. He was a great interviewer. Thanks, Jeremy Loeb! And please follow his podcast! WATCH HERE! youtube.com/watch?v=S-Boklyh…

🎉GREAT NEWS 🎉 A federal judge dismissed the Trump administration's challenge to Michigan's cage-free egg law, rejecting the claim that better egg standards are responsible for higher prices. Michigan’s law is one of many state-level reforms we’ve led that are improving the lives of farmed animals and reflecting the more humane standards people expect from modern agriculture. The factory farming lobby may continue its attacks, but the momentum toward better treatment of animals is undeniable. Read more ➡️ humaneaction.org/blog/2026/1…

"CityBeat reached out to Kroger for comment earlier this week, but has not received a response." It seems @kroger is ghosting everyone right now.

"In the past, claims of affordability and supply chain costs have been common arguments against going cage-free; however, Núñez said that in states where caged-hen eggs are completely illegal, eggs aren’t any more expensive. She showed evidence of a Kroger store in Lambertville, Michigan, where Kroger’s in-house brand of cage-free eggs are listed at $1.79 a dozen. Just a few miles away in Toledo, Ohio, Kroger’s caged-hen eggs are the same price." @kroger, what is your answer? Affordability is a lie. Keeping animals in cages is cruel and unacceptable.

Today, we made history for farmed fish. For the first time in England or Wales, Animal Equality activists and allies protested outside the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs to demand legal protection for these often overlooked animals. Just days ago, we revealed in the Guardian that there has never been a single Government inspection at a farmed fish abattoir in England or Wales. Millions of fish are being slaughtered without specific legal protections or routine inspections. Our investigations have found fish suffocating on ice, being cut while conscious, being trodden on and being bludgeoned to death. Experts on the Animal Welfare Committee have been calling for slaughter laws for farmed fish for nearly 30 years. The Government has promised a public consultation and new legislation, but has still failed to act. Today, we called on Farming Minister Stephen Morgan to put an end to this regulatory blind spot. The Government has the power to protect farmed fish. It must act urgently. And until it does, we’ll keep showing up and building people power for change. ✉️ Email your MP today and ask them to act: ae.onl/dCxErn

"A spokesperson for Kroger did not immediately respond to questions about whether the grocer has met with Animal Equality or whether the two groups are in negotiations." Nor will they. Thank you, @MiaHilkowitz , and all journalists covering this story. Eight consecutive days of stories in the media. Kroger cincinnati.com/story/grocery…

It's simple, @kroger. You promised to end cages by 2025. Hens are still trapped in these systems. @AnimalEquality now has an office in Cincinnati, and we will keep campaigning until we find a path forward together to end cages. We are open to a reasonable, productive negotiation. Why won’t you meet me? #cincinnati #cincinnatienquirer

Two salmon farming companies have been accused of allowing fish to die in pain at three farms in Scotland by regulators. "These animals suffered terribly and needlessly under the industry’s watch, and these shameful offences would never have come to light without the use of covert cameras. A warning letter is nowhere near an adequate response. The punishment simply does not fit the crime.” - Abigail Penny, Executive Director, Animal Equality UK Thanks to @FerretScot for shining a spotlight on this 🕵️‍♂️ theferret.scot/salmon-farms-…

I have met with journalists, councilmembers, residents, and businesses in Cincinnati. I have met some wonderful, compassionate people who deeply respect our First Amendment and CARE about animals. And Animal Equality has made fair adjustments to our protests to ensure impact and consideration for residents. You know who refuses to talk to me? @krogerco WHY? @AnimalEquality
We've asked @kroger for a meeting about their cage-free commitment. Millions of hens are still waiting. 🐔So are the customers #kroger promised a cage-free future to.

Replying to @kroger
@Kroger is headquartered in this district too. Council Member @jeffreysms , will you ask them to meet with @Sharon_IA?
Extremely loud protests outside Kroger HQ: we have a resolution. Thx to Sharon Nunez with Animal Equality for coming to Cincy to listen to the concerns over the noise of the ~15 residents & small biz owners near Court St. The agreement we came to is balanced & reasonable 1/2
