UPDATE: The Ministry of Health has tested drones to transport medical supplies and patient samples from Kalangala District to laboratories in Kampala, in a move aimed at reducing delays in diagnosis and treatment. Ms Prossy Mbabazi, who oversees the drone project at the ministry, said the technology is expected to shorten the time taken to transport samples from island health facilities to specialised laboratories. Currently, samples collected from 16 health facilities in Kalangala are transported by road, with some taking several days to reach laboratories. The initial rollout will cover Jaana, Bufumira, Kyamuswa and Bubeke health centres, with plans to extend the service to more islands.

The statement from Nigeria’s MoH doesn’t menrion the nationality of the patient.
Speculations about the nationality have arisen after an INDIVIDUAL posted unverified infomation.
And lastly, UGANDA HAS NO EBOLA.
PRESS STATEMENT
STAY INFORMED. STAY SAFE.
Public health is a shared responsibility, and the right information helps us all stay safe.
The Federal Government, working with the NCDC and relevant health authorities, is taking the necessary steps to protect public health and strengthen surveillance following the confirmation of an Ebola disease case in the FCT.
There is no need for panic. What matters is staying informed, practising good hand hygiene, knowing the symptoms and seeking guidance from public health authorities if you suspect exposure.
📌 Remember: Ebola spreads through direct contact with the blood or body fluids of an infected person who is sick or has died, or contaminated materials. It does not spread before symptoms begin.
For reliable information or to report a suspected case, call the NCDC toll-free line 6232, available 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
Let’s stay calm, rely on verified information and do our part to keep our communities safe.

CHARCOAL AND CLEAN COOKING DEBATE IN UGANDA: In February 2020, in my capacity as Global Senior Director of Policy at Fenix International and Vice President of the Global Off-Grid Lighting Association (GOGLA), I wrote to the Permanent Secretary /Secretary to the Treasury, Mr. Keith Muhakanizi. I proposed measures to get the price of cooking gas below the price of charcoal. He made a response. 18% VAT on gas was removed. It’s 2026, and accessories e.g. LPG cylinders still face 35% import duty! Ndugu @rggoobi and team can work on this.I hope Energy Minister Hon. @DrMusenero acts on some of these issues as PSST Muhakanizi advised. 🙏🏿

Governor Michael Atingi-Ego explains the measures taken by BoU as the exchange rate approached UGX 4,000 per US dollar, including the recent increase in the Cash Reserve Requirement (CRR). The Bank has also raised the Central Bank Rate to 12.0% from 9.75% to prevent rising costs from spreading across the economy.
The Governor emphasises that BoU does not target a specific exchange rate. The value of the Shilling is determined by market forces, with the Bank taking actions to ensure that movements in the foreign exchange market remain smooth.
