The sheer amount of money spent just on THC prohibition enforcement and incarceration in Texas is insane
That money could be much better spent on improving schools, infastructure, and just increasing the quality of life for all Texans
Texas was the #1 state in cannabis arrests last year with 29,690 and approximately 14% of the national total. 98% of those arrests were simple possession. We have an assumption that many of them may be veterans.

I was a little kid when California legalized weed and it was always like surely Texas will do it in the next five or ten years. I remember my parents catching me with weed and my mom brought me a bag of doritos while they lectured me, but even they were like… well, this will be legal by the time you’re in college anyway. And… nope… 25 years later and a recovering alcoholic lieutenant governor was enacting a THC ban at the behest of the liquor industry.
