It’s perfect. Mutual Free Movement means the job market just gets a lot bigger for them. They may even gain broader experiences and bring back transferable skills.
40% of under 24s in London who are not in education are not in work, seems like an odd time to increase migration

EU Freedom of Movement is NOT an unconditional right under EU law: it is conditional on finding a job or being self-sufficient i.e. not being a burden on taxpayers. Otherwise they have no right to stay. #BBCLauraK

The most important thing today is that Starlink and Starshield operations have been restored to the speeds we had before the restrictions. The speeds are now where they need to be. The restoration began overnight, and by this morning, speeds were already sufficient. This matters: for our frontline logistics, for defending Ukraine against jet-powered “shaheds.” I thank all Americans and all our partners who took this seriously and truly helped – members of Congress, senators, all the media, the State Department, and the President. Protecting lives matters.

The brutality of this is horrendous. So many good reporters have lost their jobs as part of a drive to integrate AI into the newsroom. Artificial intelligence simply cannot replace the experience gained through years of front-line reporting. I know there is a deep sense of betrayal among some of my former Telegraph colleagues. My heart goes out to them.

This Bartlett interview with President Zelenskyy was incredible. Highly recommend watching it start to finish. This is what all those with a platform should do - amplify the truth about russia's war and Ukraine's heroism under russia's monstrously barbaric siege.
President Zelenskyy says Ukrainian troops found parade uniforms in Russian military vehicles, and that the aim was to capture Kyiv in three days. "They were literally marching to a parade." @ZelenskyyUa

Things are moving so fast that everyone seems to have completely missed how insane it is that AI companies have been allowed to unleash agentic AI products with no regulatory guidelines.

SCOOP: Major U.S. banks are detecting unauthorized third-party AI agents inside customer accounts, including some attempting to take actions that appear to be independent of user instructions, sources told Axios. The findings have alarmed banking executives, who are racing to restrict access to their systems as AI moves at a velocity faster than financial institutions can respond, multiple industry and bank executives told Axios. Several banks are now preparing for worst-case and even “day after” scenarios, including how to rapidly secure or restore customer accounts if things go wrong, the people said. Several bank executives told Axios they're struggling to distinguish between human users and AI agents. One executive said banks also struggle to determine whether agents are authorized by customers or potentially operating without their permission, more akin to rogue agent behavior. Read my latest for Axios here: axios.com/2026/10/22/ai-agen…

E.Nesbit is a childhood heroine of mine, having loved #FiveChildrenAndIt! I would love to see a #Kent #Museum dedicated to her at The @boathouseyaldin – a gorgeous @ShepherdNeame restaurant on the banks of the #RiverMedway at #Yalding, where she spent many a happy hour rowing! 😀
In 1896, Edith Nesbit published “In Homespun”, capturing the distinctive speech and lives of rural South Kent. She described the local dialect’s “misplacement of aspirates”- a fascinating glimpse into the sounds of traditional Kentish speech, preserved for future generations.
