Replying to @SAReport
Proud to lead a school board that digs in, makes sacrifices and in the end does what’s right for our students and families. Uplifting and supporting the workers that teach, transport, feed and keep our buildings running is good for kids. We are always learning.

.@SecCardona: “It takes a village to raise a child. If you look around this room, you’ll see a group of village elders ... people who are working on partnerships to meet the needs of the whole child, to remove obstacles for them to reach their god-given potential.” #PowerOfPlace

That’s a wrap! Another successful graduation season. 17 high schools in two weeks is a big feat. But the admin and staff @SAISD do it with such pride and love for our students. Congratulations Class of 2024, you are loved and we are proud of you.

Thanks you @StriveTogether for a great #policysummit in DC last week. What a great feeling to walk along side so many fierce advocates including new friend @Monichols who’s running for Mayor of Tulsa! We need more youth development professionals in public office! #FutureReady

This applies to all nonprofit programs: “When you’re selling a product or program, you’re pitching someone a solution. But when you’re promoting policies or engaging in advocacy, you’re offering something very different: an agenda, a worldview, a value-laden vision.” When Education Entrepreneurs Face-Plant educationnext.org/when-educa… via Instapaper

It’s the difference between setting up a free health clinic & promoting a vision for reforming Medicaid. You won’t get many complaints about free, optional pediatric visits. But things get complicated when that friendly assist morphs into something big, compulsory, & intrusive.

So glad @Girlinacoma played at La Semana last night! But the poor Toadies sounded old and out of tune. @hemisfair needs to plan better last year, beverage lines were 45 minutes long, and the website said there were three areas but you couldn’t get in or out.

Day 1 of the @asugsvsummit and the first panel is already talking about the misalignment between life long learning and life long earning. The model has to evolve. We need apprenticeships models. #edtech #conference – at San Diego, CA

We kid ourselves that our degrees make us smarter than trades people. There’s a team framing a house near me with multiple gables and roof intersections. These guys are geniuses in their ability to see the geometry of a complex space and manifest it in the physical universe.

Shout out to @SAISDCottonAcad for a great site visit! Do not sleep on one of the highest performing schools in the district. But there’s no magic here, highly trained admin role modeling feedback, coaching, and rigor. Student centered, data focused and full of love.
