I have been holding my tongue about something that happened during the Ohio gubernatorial race. I refused to speak while the election was underway because I did not want my words mistaken for an attempt to influence anyone’s vote.
But now that the election is over, I have something to say.
For nearly twenty years, my ministry has taken me among the homeless, the abused, the exploited, and the forgotten. I have sat with victims of sexual violence and witnessed the lifelong wounds of childhood trauma.
What Vivek Ramaswamy’s campaign did to Amy Acton was among the most morally repulsive things I have witnessed in American politics.
They took a woman whose stepfather was indicted for raping her when she was twelve years old and featured her mother, from whom she had been estranged for nearly fifty years, in a political advertisement attacking her credibility.
The advertisement challenged Acton’s account of her childhood without mentioning the sexual abuse allegations or the circumstances of that estrangement. When people expressed their horror, the campaign defended it.
Imagine examining another person’s childhood suffering and fractured family relationships, then deciding those wounds might help win an election.
Anyone who has worked with survivors of childhood sexual abuse understands the painful realities of denial, betrayal, shame, and estrangement. A child growing into a successful adult does not erase what happened. Nor does a parent’s denial make that suffering disappear.
I find it equally disturbing that an elderly mother, whom Acton herself described as unwell, was brought into this spectacle. Whatever her own struggles or responsibility for the past, exploiting that fractured relationship was grotesque.
To everyone who defended this, consider the message you sent to survivors. To the young woman whose family refuses to believe her. To the man who has carried the shame of childhood abuse for forty years. To the frightened child who has yet to tell anyone.
What did you teach them about the value of their suffering?
I am a priest. I believe in repentance, forgiveness, and redemption. But none of those things requires me to pretend that deliberate cruelty is anything less than a grave moral failure.
Your political allegiance does not absolve you of moral responsibility. You do not get to set aside your conscience during an election and retrieve it afterward.
If your loyalty requires you to defend the exploitation of a childhood sexual abuse survivor, your loyalty has become an idol. And if your conscience cannot recognize the wrong here, examine what political tribalism has done to it.
This is not about Republicans or Democrats. We have a choice as a people: continue excusing cruelty from our preferred political camp, or summon the courage to condemn it wherever it appears.
Amy Acton deserved better. Every survivor who watched this unfold deserved better.
And God help us if we have reached the point where winning an election matters more than protecting the dignity of a wounded human being.

Trump called into Fox to say he doesn’t view the midterm losses as a hit on him because we’ve had “the greatest two years in the history of the presidency.”
The denial is almost as remarkable as the election results. 😂

In an earlier interview with Tucker Carlson, Musk jokingly said he would be "fucked" get a prison sentence, and be separated from his children if Trump lost the election.
Tucker agrees Musk could face consequences, saying, "It does seem that way!"
No wonder Musk spent almost half a billion trying to influence the election.

A BLACK MAN WAS SITTING IN HIS OWN CAR. A WHITE MAN PULLED UP, FILMED HIS PLATE AND SAID "THEY REALLY SHOULDN'T BE HERE."
"That's how people like us get killed and shot." – Taylor Walker
California
The man told him people are "constantly casing" and he wants to know "who's here and who's not."
Walker says he owns four homes in that neighborhood. Watch the man's face at 1:20.
Racial profiling or neighborhood watch? Pick one.
Would he have pulled up on a white guy in that car? Share this.

A black woman went into a CVS Òn Bearass Ave in Tampa to pick up photos she ordered online & he told her they didn’t have them & was rude. He then accused her of stealing, but couldn’t tell her what the item was & wouldn’t show her the cameras. It’s not his first time either.

UPDATE IN BERKELEY COUNTY
This is unacceptable.
Earlier today I was at the Howe Hall polling location doing an interview about a separate problem voters had already faced there. While I was standing there, these young ladies walked in, proud and excited to cast their first vote. Their names weren't on the rolls, and they were turned away. They weren't offered a provisional ballot or any other option, and they had to leave without voting.
Two problems at one polling location in one day is a pattern, and it needs answers. No eligible voter should be sent home on Election Day, especially young people casting their very first ballot. When we tell young people their voice matters and then shut the door on them at the polls, we break their trust.
I'm proud of these young ladies for showing up, and I'm not letting this go. We're pushing for answers and working to make it right.

Who is she? This nasty racist woman harassed a group of Hispanics at a park playing music & not loud either. She said this is America & we speak English & play American music. She said Trump would thank her for calling the police on them & that Republicans that love Donald Trump don’t want to hear this shit. She kept calling them Señor because she doesn’t know a lick of Spanish. She said what do you mean you have the same rights as Americans all because she was fishing & didn’t like the music or just wanted to harass them.

MAGA couple ride horses through town—dressed as the KKK.
"We were just ghosts of KKK members," woman on horse said.
She says she's not racist because she has "Brown friends."
"They thought was hilarious because well—duh it was the past and they’ve gotten over it."
Police did instruct them to leave—but only because it is not allowed to parade a horse on city streets without a permit.
Before that parents had been bringing their children out trick-or-treating over to take pictures with the couple.

MAGA grandpa threatens to call ICE on Asian couple—for parking near Koreatown.
"Go away before I call ICE!" he yells.
"And have them pick you up!"
"I usually beat you people up!"
"Get out of my country, immigrant!"
Then he screams:
"That's right—I am racist!"
Man filming said he is concerned because there was a "Welcome Trick-or-Treaters" sign in the front yard.
"Given what happened," the man explained.
"Please pass this along to make people in the area aware."
"Encourage parents to use their judgment when trick-or-treating nearby."
Asian-Americans make up about 65% of the population in this neighborhood.
Incident occurred near Northern Boulevard in Flushing, Queens, New York.
