Now in press at @AGA_CGH promising results PCB trial of curcumin-QingDai (CurQD) botanical combo. Shown to be a unique AhR agonist which was effective for active UC pts, half of whom IMM/biologics exprienced. my COI of note. @AmerGastroAssn #nutrition cghjournal.org/article/S1542…

Fascinating study in @AGA_Gastro Microbial food metabolism is disrupted by intestinal inflammation, causing food sensitization via colonic mast cell responses, possibly explaining common adverse food reactions reported by IBD patients

One year of @ChatIBDapp Amazing to be part of this project lead by @drshaunchuah
Today marks the first year of ChatIBD's operations and we are sharing our internal evals on how accurate we think ChatIBD is. Top line: ChatIBD-2.4's strict clinical error rate is estimated at ~0.3% (1 in 300). Full post including methods linked below.

Interesting study in @Gut_BMJ from @Siew_C_Ng : Polysurbate 80 (the commonly used E433 emulsifier that smoothes processed foods like ice cream, dairy, sauces, mayo &more) is degraded to 5 metabolites in the body and impairs gut barrier share.google/vM7BTnHKdWwU5t4…

Immune cell mediated enterocolitis as adverse event of CAR-T
Delighted to share our new paper in #CGH exploring #Enterocolitis following CAR-T therapy- an evolving intersection between #CART and the GI tract is worth watching. #Gastroenterology #IBD #Immunotherapy kwnsfk27.r.eu-west-1.awstrac…

Lower survival with aspirin in these metastatic CRC pts unrelated to underlying cancer progression, apparently from the KM graphs, and may partly be related to increased SAE. Worrying and disturbing
Aspirin was actually associated with increased mortality risk following treatment of CRC with liver mets

Was a pleasure hosting Dr. Edmond Baghdasaryan @EdmondBagh79015 from Armenia for a @Y_ECCO_IBD travel grant visit to our @sheba_medical GI Dept. Discuss IBD pts and research & also opportunity to visit church of Annunciation in Nazareth.... Great new collaboration ahead.

The subtitle is right on 💯 . One book, one real expert. Where is it available @h_sokol ?
The subject of the book is in the image. At the centre, what science observes. Around it, what the market makes of it. Between the two, a gap no one can measure any more, including, often, my own patients.

Boom RCT💥 in @AGA_Gastro Home calpro monitoring didnt reduce UC flare risk. Blow to UC monitoring/T2T? More likely reflects need for mandated intervention (not doctor discertion) and for effortless monitoring methods (not often-skipped poop handling) share.google/izEYhHmJhGrUaXV…

Nice study that makes sense. Deeper layer>> greater association with reduced colorectal wall compliance >> more urgency.
We found that submucosal thickness of the sigmoid is more closely associated with bowel urgency in UC than mucosal thickness. #IUS @BowelUltrasound @DrSagami onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/…

Megacolon/ileus known in severe c.diff, but this Australian study shows that (likely via enteric nervous injury) vomiting/sudden constipation can be presenting milder symptoms in 19% of c.diff pts !! preceding diarreha and associate with delayed Dx and higher mortality !

💯 Thread on the evidence classification of probiotics
[1/7] The word “probiotic” covers four completely different levels of evidence. That is exactly where the confusion is born. The honest scorecard, as the clinical trials give it xitter.cf/h_sokol/status/2094652…

One more piece in the puzzle: AhR signalling by bacterial tryptophan degradation in gut homeostasis
Years ago there were 3 to 4 really relevant #IBD papers a month, just today two amazing, key and very relevant articles in just one hour!!!! Marvelous and stressful!!! @geteccu @pancco_org 👇👇👇👇👇👇👇👇👇👇

Nice recap on TL1A-DR3. And then, 30yrs later, we are back to TNF super-family members.... the godfathers of IBD.
Everyone is talking about TL1A in IBD. But should we be watching DR3 too? Most emerging therapies are trying to neutralize the messenger, TL1A. A different strategy is emerging: block the DR3 receptor and prevent the message from being received. Same pathway. Different strategy. Could receptor blockade offer more durable pathway suppression? Could combinations take us further? And the biggest question for me: can targeting the TL1A–DR3 axis finally make a meaningful dent in fibrosis? A quick look at the other side of the TL1A story. 🔬 #IBD #TL1A #CrohnsDisease #DrugDevelopment #IBDLibrary linkedin.com/pulse/tl1adr3-s…

Interesting POC trial indicating reduction in stool bile acid by addition of a defined probiotic formulation. Not accompanied by imrovement in symptoms : Could be underpower-related (n=24), or pointing to intriguing disconnect between diarrhea and bile acid content.
⭐️Thrilled to share the results from our clinical trial. The 8-strain @Visbiome probiotic ⬇️ fecal bile acid excretion and improved microbiome and metabolomic parameters, and possibly intestinal permeability among patients with bile acid malabsorption! onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/…
