*A Call to Reconciliation and Healing for Nigeria* My fellow Nigerians, We stand at a crossroads in the history of our beloved nation. A point where division has deepened among us in ways we have never seen before. Trust between the people and their leaders has eroded. Tribes that once lived as neighbors now struggle to coexist peacefully. Religion, meant to uplift the spirit, has become a source of separation. Politics divides families and communities. Greed and evil have taken root in many hearts. Too often, the focus is on personal gain at any cost, oppressing the weak, exploiting the vulnerable, and speaking ill of our own country. This path leads only to greater pain and possible collapse! We cannot continue this way and expect a better future. Great nations are built on genuine love, mutual trust, and shared commitment. It is time for us to choose a different road, one of reconciliation, mediation, and national healing. To our leaders at all levels, please know that before any meaningful progress can be made, you must win the hearts and minds of the Nigerian people. True leadership is not about power or position alone; rather it is about restoring confidence through fairness, empathy, and visible care for the welfare of every citizen. Without the people's trust, even the best policies will fail. History shows us this truth time and again. Colonial policies that divided us, the painful wounds of the Nigerian Civil War, and the post-war efforts at unity under the banner of “No Victor, No Vanquished” all remind us how fragile our nation can be, and how strong it becomes when we choose healing. To every Nigerian, old and young, let us come together for a sincere national conversation. We need a gathering of minds and hearts where leaders, elders, youth, traditional rulers, religious leaders, and ordinary citizens can speak openly, listen deeply, and work toward genuine reconciliation. We must address the hurts of the past, confront present injustices, and build bridges across ethnic, religious, and political lines. To our young people especially, you are the hope and future of this nation. Do not inherit the divisions of yesterday. Be intentional about learning our full history, the good and the painful, so you can avoid repeating its mistakes. Choose integrity over quick money. Choose service over selfishness. Choose unity over tribalism. Groom yourselves to become leaders who value truth, compassion, and the common good. The Nigeria you build will be the one your children inherit. Nigeria is more than lines on a map drawn by colonial hands. We are a rich tapestry of over 250 ethnic groups, diverse languages, faiths, and cultures. Our strength has always lain in our diversity when united by a common purpose. Let us recommit to the ideals that brought us independence: one indivisible nation, where justice, equity, and opportunity belong to all. The time for blame and bitterness is past. The time for healing and rebuilding has come. Let love replace hatred. Let trust replace suspicion. Let commitment replace selfishness. Through sincere dialogue, forgiveness where it is due, and deliberate actions for unity, we can forge a stronger, more peaceful, and prosperous Nigeria. We owe this to ourselves, to our ancestors, and to the generations yet unborn. Together, let us rise! Nigeria, heal! Nigeria, unite!! Nigeria, shine!!! With heartfelt hope, Olushile Akinyemi Social commentator, Technical writer Lover of Nigeria Lover of Nation building – at Lagos, Nigeria

INEC has admitted it. Their own officers across the country used their logins to stuff the voters’ register with AI-generated faces and fake, replicated names. This is not a mistake. This is sabotage of our democracy by people paid to protect it. We are not fools. Millions of us are watching. Clean every fraudulent entry before 15 December. Name and prosecute every officer involved. Open the system for independent audit now. If this register is certified dirty, 2027 is already compromised. We will not accept a stolen election dressed up as technology failure. Our votes are not for sale. Fix it or face the people.

Pillar 1 of Ọnà Tuntun: Health, Education and Opportunity. These are our commitments with numbers behind them. Truly free maternal and child healthcare; including the drugs, tests and surgeries. Truly free public education; including books and exam fees. A daily meal and free transport for public school students. And 40 modern technical and vocational schools, so young people leave with skills, not just certificates. We will double the Health and Education budget. Because a Lagos that works for everyone starts with investing in the people. That is the New Way. Ó TI YÁ

GOVERNMENT MUST TAKE RESPONSIBILITY FOR THE PROVISION OF ESSENTIAL SOCIAL AMENITIES. -FUNSO DOHERTY At Silverbird TV’s Road to 2027, the Lagos State Governorship Candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), HE Funso Doherty, on one on one interview, spoke extensively on the need for government to reclaim its responsibility for providing essential public services, including water, transportation, waste management, and healthcare. He emphasised that while private-sector participation remains important to economic growth and development, the provision of fundamental social amenities cannot be left entirely in the hands of private investors. These are critical areas where government must demonstrate leadership, invest public funds responsibly, and ensure that the needs of the people remain the priority. The New Lagos agenda recognises the value of private investment and welcomes responsible private-sector partnerships. However, such partnerships must complement, not replace, the government's fundamental duty to provide accessible, affordable, and reliable public services. For years, concerns have persisted over the management and delivery of these essential services in Lagos. The New Way, as articulated by HE Funso Doherty, calls for a government that prioritises public welfare, manages public resources transparently, and directs the funds generated by Lagos towards meeting the social needs of its residents. Under the vision of The New Way, government will be expected to take ownership of its responsibilities, strengthen public service delivery, and ensure that every Lagosian has access to the basic amenities necessary for a dignified life. A government must be accountable to the people it serves. Public resources must translate into public benefits. And the welfare of Lagosians must remain at the heart of governance. O TI YÁ! A New Lagos Is Possible. The New Way Has Come. #2027elections #Roadto2027

“I will vote for Tinubu. I want him to complete his tenure because we are suffering. This administration is a bad administration. Let us be sincere and factual: we are suffering. Since morning, some people have not even had a square meal. People are suffering. That is the basic truth.” — Man
