ALT A two-page letter from Dr Ellie Chowns, Defence Lead for the Green Party of England and Wales, to the new Defence Secretary, Wes Streeting, dated 21 July 2026. The letter congratulates him on his appointment before urging him to end the UK's complicity in the genocide in Gaza. It notes Streeting's previous public statements that Israel is committing war crimes and that the UK has a moral and legal responsibility to respond. The letter cites findings from the International Court of Justice, International Criminal Court and UN bodies, argues that UK arms exports and participation in the F-35 programme risk breaching international law, and asks Streeting three questions about ending arms sales and military cooperation with Israel, recognising UN findings, and implementing international legal rulings. It concludes by urging him to match his previous statements with action by ending all UK arms sales to Israel.

ALT Image is a letter, signed by all Green MPs and Peers. It reads: -ensure the hunger strikers are not denied clinical monitoring or hospital access; instigate an immediate review of the remand/bail decisions in these cases; -confirm that counter terror powers are not being misapplied to protest activity. These protestors must be guaranteed their right to a fair trial – the decision since their arrest to proscribe Palestine Action puts this seriously at risk. We would like to know what measures you are putting in place to ensure such a vital cornerstone of our justice system is upheld, both in relation to the charges brought against these specific prisoners and more broadly in relation to offences committed by others acting in solidarity with Palestine. We urge you to meet with the families and loved ones of the prisoners on hunger strike – we understand you have not responded yet to representations they have made, and trust you will be open to hearing from them directly.
