Non-autistic people don’t automatically become authorities on autism just because they have an autistic friend or family member.
Having an autistic person in your life doesn’t give you the right to speak over the autistic community or use them as a shield to validate your opinions. Listen to autistic people instead of assuming proximity makes you an expert.
