I didn’t get into the tech scene to help guys build another b2b saas startup.
Let’s be real. When someone says tech, what do you think of?
The invention of the wheel?
The steam engine?
Flight?
Or do you think of soft blue gradients, sans-serif fonts promising incremental rev impact if yuo sign up for the latest b2b saas solution?
Tech has gotten so synonymous with digital that we forget that the greatest, most impactful civilizational leaps have all happened in the real world.
But now the pendulum is swinging back toward reality.
And I, for one, am excited to be a part of it.
The Truth About the Frontier
I grew up in rural Wisconsin. Without the internet (despite being GenZ), my world was power tools, firewood, and campfires.
When I started recruiting in 2020, I was fascinated by CleanTech. I thought we were reinventing the world.
But "CleanTech" lost its way. It traded optimism for fear-mongering and word-police politics. It stopped being about the future and started being about how much you aren't allowed to do.
That’s not the future I want to build.
I'm rebranding because I’m looking for a different kind of builder.
I’m looking for the frontiersmen. The kind of people who understand that technology should be a tool for stewardship. Not a source of shame.
The frontier isn't another b2b saas calendar app.
It’s the physical world. It’s that horse-riding, gun-slinging cowboy who respects the land that sustains him. He knows nature can be harsh, but he understands that if we use technology correctly, we can make this dusty rock better for the next generation.
The Mission
I may not be the scientist uncovering nature’s secrets, but I get to be the one who finds the crew that does.
I’m using my firm to rally the wild adventurers. The builders who are pushing the boundaries of what’s possible in the real world.
If you’re a frontiersman in pursuit of technologies that actually matter, you and I are cut from the same cloth.

I love SF Halloween what do you mean you’re the green Subaru that hit @fedpoasts
I asked around and people said 'no one trick or treats' here.
So... not only did we trick or treat with our daughter.
We reverse trick or treated 24 houses.
Left them our number and address so we can start to get to know the neighbors.
There are many ways to build community. Just start doing it.

Our latest episode of @CatholicFndrs is out now -- one that all my Austin folks will like! P. Terry's Founders Patrick and Kathy Terry.
They do over $150m a year in revenue
Have 1800 employees across 37 locations
- They have a person who's full-time job is to bake a cake for each employee on their birthday and deliver it
- They offer interest free loans when an employee is in need (pay back at whatever speed they like)
- So far out of 900k ish loaned out, only $5k has defaulted
- They have given away something like $4m to charities locally
- They do profit sharing based on tenure
- They have some employees who have been there for 19 years
- They chose to take lower margins as inflation rose to ensure their product was affordable
- All the while, keeping high quality food
These two are a living example of how to build a scaled business while still maintaining the principles of subsidiarity, solidarity, a preferential treatment for the poor, and upholding human dignity. Catholic Social Teaching-Maxxing

Midwestern college kids: "Yo let's start a space scavenging business"
There are already thousands of satellites in orbit, live and defunct. Kall Morris provides solutions to acquire, scavenge, reposition, and deactivate satellites. KMI Space helps their customers maximize “value per launch.”
Founded in a dorm room at Northern Michigan University by Troy Morris, Austin Morris and Adam Kall, KMI is now backed by $34M from SpaceWERX and a $3.5M Michigan grant.
They’re trusted by NASA, the US Space Force, and partnered with MIT and Stanford.
They have 60 jobs on the way to Marquette, Michigan in the remote Upper Peninsula.
You could say all space tech is coastal, as long as you count the coast of Lake Superior.

It's hard for me to accept the fact that there are many ppl who only see things for what they are rather than what they can be (including my wife haha)
We drive thru a bad neighborhood, I see potential to change it and even make a buck in the process.
She sees danger.
I see a young person full of energy, I see someone who will achieve great things and may need some shaping.
Others see someone who is reckless and hasn't accomplished anything yet.
Which type of person are you and do you have to play devil's advocate often?

The future of #ArtificialIntelligence is not pre-determined. As a technology developed by human beings, its future depends on the choices we make. We therefore have the responsibility to guide, change and, when necessary, reject its applications. A reliable system that serves the human person is of greater value than one that is exceptionally powerful but whose consequences cannot be adequately foreseen or controlled.
I think the libertarian mindset is a key reason why the far left has gotten away with so many things.
Some things should not be accepted by people who want our country to continue existing
When crazy things become so normal in private they become more normal in public making it feel almost rude to point out that the Overton window has been shifting further and further
If someone wants to end free speech, to off their political opponents, to promote insanity (like boys can be girls and VV), they should be shunned and their ideas should be condemned.
When we accept those ideas as legitimate ideas what is truth becomes increasingly hard to identify.
When you accept a certain premise, you’re accepting it as true. If that thing is in opposition to reality, you’re setting yourself up to lose the war in the long run.

Machines are tools, not persons. Today, some propose granting these systems rights, or even legal personhood. Such an approach risks obscuring human responsibility and leaving those who suffer harm to confront a faceless entity.
