Hey all. Wanted to give a long overdue update on my health. I'll try to make this as concise as possible. In late February, I had a biopsy done. I didn't think much of it, as I've had one of these done before with no problem. It is of course always stressful waiting for results, and this was a particularly long wait (just over a month). Right at the start of April, I found out the results: I was diagnosed with melanoma; one of the most aggressive forms of cancer. As I'm sure you can imagine, this came as quite a shock. What proceeded was nothing short of a nightmare, with surgeries, recovery, more and more tests, more and more waits, treatment, and it ultimately culminated in a 3.5 month process from start to finish. I wouldn't wish it upon anyone. The good news: as far as the doctors can tell, I am now in the clear. I apologize for the lack of updates during this process. My mindset just wasn't in the right place to keep updating people on every step of the process, especially since final answers took ~100 days to get. I really didn't know what to say, and for a large part I was in quite a lot of pain. It was also quite a trip not knowing whether or not I was going to live; it opened up a giant Pandora's box mentally and I felt like I was in a Schrodinger's cat scenario, completely unsure of what the future held (or if there would be one). The big takeaway: use sunscreen. Try to stay out of the sun during peak hours (11am-3pm). Book a visit with your doctor and get referred to a dermatologist for a full check-up. This mole was rather inconspicuous and took a dermatoscope to tell that anything was wrong. I didn't go for any particular reason; just a check-up. And good thing I did. Otherwise, content will be returning very shortly. I would like to thank my wife for saving my life (and diligently taking care of me throughout the entire process). From discussing FR/LG & Emerald with people on message boards when Pokémon had become 'uncool' at school To regularly Wi-fi battling with people in Diamond/Pearl back in 2007 when EVs were manually trained & counted with tally marks on paper To growing up with fellow aspiring creators trying to make it on Youtube from 2008-2018 I hope they're all doing well.
