If you freelance, be prepared for slower months. Or years. Even when you’re fully loaded with work.
I used to get 5-10 solid briefs a week and turned most of them down, because I was already running 3-4 projects at once. That went on for years. I was crazy busy.
Then 2023. Nine months, not a single project. 2024 was better but still quiet. 2025 started to pick up, nowhere near the peak of 2018-2021.
I’ve got the biggest brands in the world in my portfolio and it did nothing. I’ve been ghosted more times than I can remember. Invoices overdue for months or not paid at all.
People only flex here. The reality is completely different.

While I’m delighted the channel has been restored, I still believe creators deserve greater transparency when decisions like this are made. No creator should lose years of work without a clear explanation and a genuine opportunity for a human review.

At Siggraph in LA right now and got invited to an AI panel on Educators Day and it was crazy to hear that job placement rates for students for some art schools (whether jobs or internships) went from almost 80% to 20%. Already seeing effects of AI affecting entry level jobs. And we wonder why younger folks hate AI.

I hope this saves someone else from losing their mind. @Maxon_Cinema4D moved the "Refraction Affects Alpha Channel" into the legacy render settings and disabled it. They should've left it on because it breaks your plastic or transparent shaders from showing in the alpha channel.
