Opinion polls do not measure public opinion, their purpose is to influence public opinion.

Folks, we are days away from an election in South Africa. If you see any poll, unless you are told the sample size, when and how it was done and who was interviewed, simply ignore what is said. Even if this info is given, unless it is a properly drawn sample, ignore it.
White party looks for more black votes? This is shameful reporting
Helen Zille could soon be the first white mayor of post-apartheid Johannesburg. Such a result could point to the beginnings of a less racialised politics economist.com/middle-east-an…

Classic propaganda tactic from Naspers @AdriaanBasson @News24 before the elections...
Notice whose picture they use when reporting the Bronkhorstspruit water problem versus whose they use when reporting the solution...inverting the truth.
Note: in case you still don't understand, water provision at this level is a local government responsibility (i.e. Nasiphi Moya) and national government (Majodina et al) can step in *if* local fails

To state the obvious: SA still has nuclear power (Koeberg); the neglect of the rail network is a shame (on the other hand, apartheid SA did nog have something akin to Gautrain); but most importantly: “first world” SA was a mirage, catering for the white minority. Be real.
Guys when did we accept that our current government is incompetent? Inefficient and below target yes, but incompetent?

this is a great example of a consciousness raising exercise done well. aww shet broo, the ruch, they're keeping all the chups for emselves
This is why that wall should NOT go up. It’s good that everyone is affected. The DA wants to be able to ignore violence on black communities without having to deal with it.
They must govern effectively. For all.
Cape Town international airport at a stand still … taxi strike affecting even airports… no staff could arrive and entire system collapsed… where’s @Our_DA @geordinhl
I haven’t seen this many headlines on the violence preceding this. Soon as it touches insulated reality everyone is switched on!

Staffing shortages at the @capetownint linked to ongoing taxi-related unrest, have left the airport’s security screening operations under strain, as some employees have been unable to report for duty @NtuthuzeloNene

Brazilians have reportedly been spending 6.5% more on staple foods since sports betting was banned in the country.
A month ago, Lula signed an order banning fixed-odds sports betting, a move he said was designed to tackle the problem of families falling into debt.
Now the President of the Brazilian Supermarket Association says that since the ban, sales of essential foods such as rice, oil, coffee, and noodles have grown by 6.5%.

The growing use of AI-generated posters by government departments and other institutions will eventually come back to haunt them. By normalising AI-generated visuals in official communication, they are making it increasingly difficult for the public to distinguish genuine announcements from fabricated ones.
People are already creating fake posters that look remarkably similar to official communications. The danger is that misinformation can now spread under the appearance of credibility

Springbok fans need to stop this illness of thinking that just because Rassie has been involved in back-to-back World Cup wins, he’s somehow immune to criticism whether it’s about selection, style of play or, most importantly, transformation.
Rassie is not the first person to occupy that seat, and he certainly won’t be the last. Nick Mallett went 17 Tests unbeaten, a record no other Springbok coach has matched, yet he still faced criticism. Jake White won the World Cup and took a B team to Australia, but he also caught his fair share of flak, particularly around transformation.
So why must Rassie be treated differently? Winning World Cups doesn’t put anyone above scrutiny. The Springbok coaching job carries enormous responsibility, and given what the jersey and the institution historically represented, questions around transformation will always be part of the conversation.
It’s the same energy as Cyril Ramaphosa telling South Africans to stop complaining because load-shedding has ended.
“Bro, we went through hell. We’re not forgetting that easily. And besides, we want MORE!” 😂
You can appreciate what Rassie has achieved while still questioning his decisions. Those two things are not mutually exclusive. Supporting the Springboks doesn’t mean blindly agreeing with everything the coach does.
Respect the achievements, but never abandon accountability.

European hiring rules are genuinely insane.
For example - if you own a company in the Netherlands and one of your employees gets sick, you are required to pay at least 70% of their wages for up to 2 years.
If they can't go back to work after 2 years and you haven't done enough for their reintegration, you pay their wages for 1 more year. And you can't fire them until after that extra year!
