Given the context, I can't help but think the manga is a story narrated by Boruto. He puts so much emphasis on it being his story and it happened before the Omnipotence mind swap where everyone is made to believe he's the bad guy. This isn't just an story of Boruto, its meant to be an message to the world that he is "Uzumaki Boruto".
