For the Vikings specifically, the Taylor conversation is less about money for ‘26 than it is the future money on his contract. Pay a premium at the RB position in ‘27 and ‘28, and you’re then having to make a bunch of real tough decisions with a ton of major roster questions (QB, TE, LB, DT, CB, etc.) after this season.
Jonathan Taylor's contract is very team friendly if a team trades for him. Would only owe about $4.4M this year and up top $1M in incentives.
Despite signing a new contract this summer no 2027 salary is guaranteed for skill until February so if it didnt work out a team could cut ties with no other salary in play

#Vikings GM Nolan Teasley has been a “madman” on the phone looking for trades recently, per @JamesPalmerTV via TNF’s broadcast. The two positions they’ve been looking at are RB and TE.
Hilarious thread
#Bears fans, would you trade 2 first round picks for Jeffrey Simmons?
He's 29, under contract through 2030 at roughly $35 million/year, and is one of the best defensive lineman in football.

After talking to several NFL teams and GMs over the last hour, my expectation is the trade deadline will be even crazier than anticipated. Chicago’s all-in move will cause other teams to react and try to be bold as well.
In the words of one source: “All hell is going to break loose over the next week and a half. Get your popcorn ready.”

I know none of you will beleive me, but one of my fraternity brothers sister is married to an nfl agent, they golf all the time. He just told me there is a trade being finalized for JT right now and the Vikings are the front runners. - again I know how this sounds, but LFG!

Justin Jefferson reached 100 receiving yards 36 times in his first 82 games. 28 of those were 120+.
Over his last 17 games, he's had 100 yards one time (101 in last year's finale) and has 80+ only two other times.
Inexcusable.

This Vikings defense cannot be taken for granted.
What they did against the Colts — and what they've done all year — adds urgency.
The offense must figure it out, and GM Nolan Teasley must get aggressive with 16 days until the NFL trade deadline:
