"HEY today has some 300-odd system tests. We're going to cut that number way down. The sunk cost fallacy has kept us running this brittle, cumbersome suite for too long. Time to cut our losses, reduce system tests to a much smaller part of the equation." world.hey.com/dhh/system-tes…

This is your regular reminder that estimation is destroying value (focus on duration/cost, not value), and creating conflict (my estimate vs your), as well as misdirecting management attention (velocity vs. value performance) #NoEstimates

Software Engineering continues to suffer from a binary, context free perspective on practices, patterns and tools. Any practice is either "excellent" or "awful" in all scenarios. Engineering needs to mature to understanding there is a box of tools which may help in your context.

The 8 ‘Commendments’ for Maintainable Test Automation by @MazinInaad. 1) If using Gherkin. A typical scenario should be three to five keywords long. 2) If using Gherkin. A single test should be responsible for managing it's own test data. 1/N #AgileTDOpenAir

Do you want to be a dramatically better manager and teammate? Kick the habit of empty praise. When you catch yourself feeling grateful to someone or impressed by their work, do the work to figure out why it had such an impact on you. Share *those* details, not "you're so great!"
Replying to @mipsytipsy
Praise that actually describes some part of the work that was done, instead of some bizarre manager level perception is another skill, sadly lacking in most managers I've run into.
