The Republican-controlled board of elections shut down the 1 early voting site at North Carolina A&T University—a historically Black college—so students marched an hour to vote. CONGRATULATIONS TO THESE STUDENTS FOR FIGHTING BACK. WE MUST ALL DO THE SAME.

Happy Earth Day! In the words of UAW President Walter Reuther, “The labor movement is about that problem we face tomorrow morning. Damn right! But to make that the sole purpose of the labor movement is to miss the main target. I mean, what good is a dollar an hour more in wages if your neighborhood is burning down? What good is another week’s vacation if the lake you used to go to is polluted and you can’t swim in it and the kids can’t play in it? What good is another $100 in pension if the world goes up in atomic smoke?”

As VP Harris appears poised to be the next dem nominee for president, we hope to hear an agenda from her that centers the needs of workers–Black, brown, and white alike–and the importance of expanding our democracy, from the factory floor to the ballot box. Let’s get to work.
There has been no greater champion in the White House for America’s workers than President Joe Biden. With our deepest gratitude and respect, we honor President Biden’s choice to not run for re-election. aflcio.org/press/releases/st…
