My son (Y6) has just told me that on Thursday afternoons they do Biscuit Assessments where they try a different biscuit each week and write about the taste, texture and appearance and this just feels like God-level teaching after endless weeks of SATs prep and tests 😄😄

I've spent the last few years working with hundreds of schools, enough to spot some patterns and (I hope) to write some useful threads over the coming months.
Here's the first one...
In my opinion, what do primary schools commonly get wrong with their reading lessons? 🪡

Great post explaining why reading progression docs do not work.
I would go even further - progression docs don't work in other subjects either.
I first wrote about this in 2013 when I thought the removal of levels would get rid of this approach! (🧵)

Note to self: you have been paid today. Yes - it is 9 days early - you’ve been paid early this month - as you are every December.
This is your money to live off until January 31st.
It is not, I repeat, not a “Christmas Holiday Allowance” to be spent on cheese and mulled drinks.
