Anyway, if for some reason you want to keep up with my nonsense (sadly non-Grok-enabled), I'm over here: bsky.app/profile/tomfreeman.…
As you may have noticed, I'm hardly posting here any more. I've 99% decamped to Bluesky, which is where most of my longtime tweeps are now active. But some are still here, so I still drop by to see what's what.

Overall, I've found myself becoming more supportive of the principle of AD over the past few weeks but I've turned against this specific bill.
Find someone who loves you as much as MPs love posting their "why I am taking this position" things as images of A4 letters in small type which are tough to read either on phones or on laptops/desktops, and god help you if you use a screen reader
Interesting thread, although I had to keep stopping to tell myself "EHRC is Equality and Human Rights Commission, ECHR is European Convention on Human Rights"

Today marks a very important milestone in sci-fi comics: as of this date, 2000AD has been named after the past for the majority of its existence.
I'm uncertain about assisted dying. I lean towards supporting the principle but am worried about the practice. This new bill - I've not read it in detail and frankly lack the knowledge to assess it fully. But I have one thought. 1/4 bills.parliament.uk/bills/37…
Indeed, sections 30-34 essentially say "NHS leaders and ministers will figure out how to put all this into effect." They'll create codes of practice etc, saying - who knows what?
I think what may be needed is a govt bill, not a PMB, that can flesh out this stuff in advance. 3/4
Mandelson could be a capable US ambassador, and a capable Oxford chancellor - but not both at once. There'd be conflicts of interest. Loyally serving the UK govt vs speaking freely on HE issues. Lobbying the US govt vs courting well-connected potential US donors. Nope.
Lord Peter Mandelson now running hard for two big jobs which he believes are complementary: UK ambassador in Washington and chancellor of Oxford. He can play Iago in the court of King Trump and tap into American philanthropy for Oxford’s needs. And he knows his trade stuff from his time as EU commissioner in Brussels. Quite the pitch!
