Вспомнил, что перестал сюда писать в 2022 - когда свалил, но продолжал шифроваться, что сижу в Москве. Потому что работать из эмиграции было, разумеется, нельзя. Так и скрывался почти два года.

In aerospace engineering, “Mag-Thor” (magnesium–thorium) refers to a class of alloys that were used in the 1940s-1980s that were inherently weakly radioactive due to the presence of thorium.☢️
Thorium was intentionally added to a magnesium alloy for its metallurgical advantages since it helped improve high temperature strength, creep resistance and microstructural stability by forming stable phases that resisted deformation under sustained thermal stress. From a performance standpoint, Mag-Thor alloys allowed engineers to retain magnesium’s low density while extending its usable temperature range. This made it suitable for components such as engine housings, transmission casings and other structural parts that could become exposed to heat and stress.
The picture shown here (used in an aircraft yoke) is a great example of its design priorities. A yoke must be strong, fatigue resistant and dimensionally stable under repeated mechanical input, while also remaining lightweight to ensure precise and responsive control. Magnesium–thorium alloys provided that balance effectively at the time, which is why it showed up often in old school cockpit control components like this.
However, by the early 1980s, these alloys were largely phased out as regulatory scrutiny and occupational safety standards surrounding radioactive materials became more stringent. Despite its engineering advantages, Mag-Thor alloys were ultimately discontinued due to the health risks associated with thorium during manufacturing, machining and disposal. As material science has also advanced, the aerospace industry has transitioned to alternative high performance alloys that met the same requirements without the added radiological risk.

I am the CEO of a nonprofit.
We're saving humanity from AI.
By building AI.
Let me unpack that.
Actually, let's not.
In 2015, we started as a nonprofit.
A real one.
Tax-exempt.
Mission-driven.
Mission-driven means underpaid.
But for a cause.
"Ensure AI benefits all of humanity."
That was the mission.
The mission has been optimized.
In 2019, we became a "capped-profit" company.
Capped-profit means investors can only make 100x their money.
Only.
One hundred times.
For humanity.
Now we're going full for-profit.
A regular Delaware corporation.
Like Exxon.
But for chatbots.
We announced this in December.
The blog post was beautiful.
"We need more capital than we'd imagined."
We imagined quite a lot.
We imagined $150 billion.
Then we imagined more.
That's the journey.
The nonprofit will receive shares in the new company.
How many shares?
Some.
Probably.
The lawyers are still optimizing that.
Optimizing means minimizing.
But with better fonts.
I'm getting 7% equity.
I never asked for it.
They insisted.
The board.
That I appointed.
Insisted.
7% of $150 billion is about $10.5 billion.
That's not why I'm doing this.
I'm doing this for humanity.
The $10.5 billion is just paperwork.
Very valuable paperwork.
With my name on it.
For humanity.
Elon is suing us.
He says we betrayed the mission.
He gave us $50 million in 2015.
We're worth $150 billion now.
3,000x return.
He wants it.
For humanity.
His humanity.
Our original charter said we'd open-source everything.
Open-source means everyone can use it.
We don't do that anymore.
We closed the source.
For safety.
Safety means competitive advantage.
Competitive advantage means profit.
Profit means we need a new structure.
For safety.
We're becoming a Public Benefit Corporation.
PBC.
Public Benefit Corporation.
Also stands for Plausibly Beneficial Cover.
That's not official.
But it should be.
A PBC means we consider stakeholders.
Not just shareholders.
We consider them.
Then we do what shareholders want.
Consideration complete.
The new structure lets us raise unlimited capital.
Unlimited capital for unlimited AI.
For a limited planet.
With limited humans.
Who we're definitely not replacing.
Augmenting.
Augmentation is replacement with better PR.
I coined that.
For humanity.
I'm doing a fireside chat at Davos next month.
"AI for Good."
I'll explain how becoming a for-profit corporation is actually more aligned with our nonprofit mission.
It won't make sense.
But it will sound like it does.
That's the real AI.
Artificial Integrity.
I invented it.
For humanity.
And for 7%.
Mostly for humanity.
