Interesting post here that puts things into perspective. All of these patches in the image below are the agencies that assisted in a single relatively small fire. The mutual aid, master mutual aid and ICS system in CA is second to none.
It's National First Responders Day! 馃殥 During the Norte Fire, we saw the impact of mutual aid as agencies from across California came together to help protect our communities and residents.

Another point to be thankful for. All of the dispatchers, admin personnel and overhead that not only make notifications to these agencies, but also track each piece of equipment and supply them with all the food, water, hygiene, and equipment they need to do their job.

Spotted this mantis yesterday under the eaves. Mantis are beneficial. But today I noticed she has one big black eye. That means she either got injured or has an infection. I caught her to keep her safe and give food and water. Hopefully I can release her if she gets better.

Well deserved tribute. I鈥檓 heavily paraphrasing here, but there鈥檚 a saying that goes the victor in war is the one with a better political reality after the war. Say what you want about Desert Storm or OIF, the bottom line is the world and the region is better off without Saddam.
Today, the Desert Shield and Desert Storm Memorial joins the National Mall鈥檚 living history. 35 years after these operations, the memorial provides a permanent place to honor the service and the sacrifice.

Not every wildfire makes the news. Many are stopped before they have a chance to grow. While California may be experiencing fewer wildfire starts, new fires are still igniting every day. Over the past week, 157 new wildfires started across the state. CAL FIRE鈥檚 goal is to contain 95% of wildfires at 10 acres or less. Meeting that goal takes a fast response and decisive action before flames have a chance to spread. 馃摳 The Oct. 12 Rock Fire is one example. @CALFIRENEU and partner agencies responded and contained the fire at just 1.5 acres, preventing it from growing larger. These smaller fires are a reminder of why every response matters, even when it doesn't make the headlines.

#NorteFire moving towards I5, three strike teams requested to that area. Safety 22 near Via California is reporting houses being impacted with no suppression equipment in the area.

#NorteFire good lord, can they possibly add any more people to this press conference. Really, all people need to hear from is OCFA and OCSD. All the politicians, mayors, senators is unnecessary and grandstanding.

#NorteFire #BrysonFire and #PeakFire were all relatively small. Yes, loss of homes is significant and cannot be discounted. But it needs to be said that the additional staffing and prepositioned strike teams played a significant roll in keeping all of these fires much smaller.

#NorteFire I鈥檓 not saying they caused it, but a dozer came across some dirt bike riders and a jeep in the black.
