#Cuba is here, not in there. The representatives of the Cuban people are here, not with them. And the vast majority of the UN is with us, just as they will be once again on October 27 and 28.
At a press conference, Cuban Foreign Minister @BrunoRguezP exposed a relentless U.S. campaign of threats, blackmail and coercion aimed at swaying votes at the @UN on the resolution “Necessity of ending the economic, commercial and financial embargo imposed by the United States of America against Cuba.”
He detailed threats of punitive tariffs, suspension of cooperation programs, visa restrictions and political destabilization.
He also denounced the U.S. decision to bring a terrorist into UN headquarters, in flagrant disregard of the Organization’s rules and as part of a broader effort to divert attention from the collective punishment inflicted on the Cuban people by the blockade.
When Washington cannot persuade, it resorts to intimidation.

#Cuba Reiterates Its Rejection of United States' Attempts to Involve the Island in the Ukraine Conflict
📌Communiqué of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Cuba reiterates its absolute rejection of the false accusations that the Government of the United States, without any foundation or evidence whatsoever, continues to spread regarding an alleged participation of Cuba in the military conflict in Ukraine, with the purpose of confusing and misinforming the international community.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs categorically affirms that Cuba is not part of this conflict, nor does it participate with military personnel there or in any other country.
Cuba supports the peaceful settlement of conflicts through dialogue and negotiations, including in the case of Ukraine, in accordance with international law and the Charter of the @UN.
Unlike the United States, Cuba has a clean record in combating the grave scourge of mercenarism, for which it maintains a zero-tolerance policy. Accordingly, Cuba prosecutes and penalizes mercenarism in accordance with its national legislation and international obligations.
None of the Cuban citizens who have been or are currently involved with any of the parties to this conflict has the encouragement, support or consent of any State or governmental institution. The vast majority of these Cuban citizens, like many others of different nationalities, were recruited from abroad.
Since 2023, 17 preparatory-phase files have been investigated for the crime of mercenarism, involving 49 accused persons. Of these, 43 were brought before the Court in 12 cases, with requests for penalties ranging from 5 to 16 years' imprisonment. In five cases involving six accused persons, the Office of the Attorney General decided not to prosecute and ordered that the proceedings be dismissed, as it was not proven that they had been involved in the crime. To date, 10 oral trials have been held and 2 are pending. The defendants were punished in accordance with the requests of the Office of the Attorney General.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs reiterates Cuba's firm commitment against mercenarism, as well as its readiness to explore avenues of cooperation, in accordance with national legislation and international obligations, to prevent, address and punish this serious crime in all its manifestations.

.@CubaMINREX reitera su absoluto rechazo a las falsas acusaciones que el gobierno de Estados Unidos, sin sustento ni evidencia alguna, continúa divulgando sobre una supuesta participación cubana en el conflicto militar en Ucrania, con el objetivo de confundir y desinformar a la comunidad internacional.
Ninguno de los ciudadanos cubanos que han participado o participan en cualquiera de las partes de este conflicto, cuentan con el estímulo, el apoyo o el consentimiento de ninguna institución estatal o gubernamental cubana. En su inmensa mayoría, el reclutamiento de estos ciudadanos cubanos, al igual que el de muchas otras nacionalidades, se realizó desde el extranjero.
Desde 2023, se han investigado 17 expedientes de fase preparatoria por el delito de mercenarismo, con 49 imputados. De ellos, fueron presentados 43 al Tribunal en 12 procesos, con solicitudes de sanciones entre 5 y 16 años de privación de libertad. En 5 casos con 6 imputados, la Fiscalía General de la República decidió no ejercer la acción penal y dispuso el sobreseimiento de los mismos por no haberse probado su intervención en dicho delito. Se han celebrado hasta la fecha 10 juicios orales y se mantienen otros 2 pendientes. Los acusados fueron sancionados en correspondencia con las solicitudes de la Fiscalía General de la República.
Reiteramos el firme compromiso de Cuba contra el mercenarismo, así como su disposición a evaluar vías de cooperación, en correspondencia con la legislación nacional y las obligaciones internacionales, para prevenir, enfrentar y sancionar este grave delito en todas sus manifestaciones.

In a press conference we provided evidence of the US brutal pressures and threats against the @UN member States aimed at forcing them to change their vote on the resolution against the blockade.
Those pressures and threats are being personally conducted by the Secretary of State and his representative to the UN. They have spent months doing that.
Their methods of persuasion include threats of punitive tariffs against governments, suspension of cooperation programs, denial of visas for government officials and their relatives, support to opposition forces during upcoming elections and even political distabilization. There are also some documents circulating that contain clear and threatening messages by the US government against several governments and their delegations before the UN.
The US government has attempted to contact several governments so that they can play the role of leaders and motivate others to change their historical position on the Cuban resolution.
As ridiculous as it may seem, it has gone to the extreme of suggesting some countries to abstain or, ultimately, to be absent from the vote if they find it impossible to vote against Cuba.
This is a new and dangerous way to engage in multilateral diplomacy. It is a reflection of the impotence of someone who is wrong, whose only available recourse is the use of force.

The vote of the UN General Assembly resolution against the blockade will take place this October 28 under unusual conditions, not only because of the brutal tightening of the economic blockade since the early days of 2026, but because of the ferocious onslaught of political pressures, intimidations, coercion and blackmail unleashed by the US government to change the vote of many delegations or force them to vote against their positions.
