Smash life was registered 4 years ago today There were lots of “why don’t you get a real job” - “let’s see how long this lasts” from the neg heads But it’s been the best working journey I’ve been on - we have an amazing team, we have created a brill service for children…💙👌

Young people’s voices stating this are often ignored but stats indicative. School is a HUGE trigger for those who begin to use self harm to cope; often coping with being overwhelmed; often neurodiversity completely discounted; leaving yp feeling invalidated.
Self harm in children and teenagers shows a very different pattern to adults with significantly less harm on the weekends and during holidays: greatest harm on school days. Holidays and weekends are good circuit breakers for distress #BDISummit @blackdoginst

Today the CPS have published their latest figures on domestic abuse. Sadly the outcomes continue to be distressing and unacceptable. Comparing year ending June 2022 to year ending June 2016, prosecutions are down 48% and convictions are down 46.8%. This cannot continue.

Please consider supporting this excellent initiative - a published anthology of care-experienced voices, curated by the wonderful @RebekahPierre92 If you can afford, please chip in by pre-ordering / pledging. If you can help a #CEP contribute, then please do when the time comes!
There are so many care-experienced writers who’ve never been given a chance - their words confined to surveys & feedback forms. Pls support #FreeLoavesonFridays so we can put them in Waterstones instead. Proceeds to @togethertrust & @article39 unbound.com/books/free-loave… @unbounders

Nothing beats my old social worker congratulating me today, 12 years she’s been in my life, and we are still in touch to this day. THIS! This is why caring, genuine social workers are so important. She is more than just a social worker, YP don’t leave care, care continues! ❤️

A social worker telling me they could see the scared little boy in the teenager is exactly the empathy & understanding all of our children need. The big voices mask over so much. It is our job to understand, listen & empower... Witnessing so much good practice #socialwork

Just love when a social worker's face lights up when they talk about their kids. Exactly how it should be and it is infectious 💛 #socialwork
