The frustration over the Netflix (let’s not mince words) fucking catastrophically bad FTX series is: 1) unbelievably disingenuous depiction of pivotally meaningful events 2) SBF as a hero (film); he’s a literal anti-hero (reality) 3) finance films must be serious and historically accurate to be great / have any success
“It’s just money. It’s made up.” One of best scenes in a finance movie

To the people that related to the Airbnb criticism - this is the type of egregious behavior that kills me (QT) Curious what the crowd thinks (before I let it rip, and btw don’t get me started on wedding industry). Another example: most people I talk to love Trader Joe’s. Friendly vibes, community oriented, etc. Me? I grab frozen samosas, a single avocado, a bottle of wine, a bag of frozen berries, and a candle. Cashier: “Hey! How ya doin!? Is this dinner tonight?” Me: “uhh…” smiles through irritation “no i dunno.” Thinking to myself: what type of psychotic recipe do you think I’m working on? I think I’m the minority here, but gotta put some of this stuff out there to see how insane I am. Or maybe I’m not?
So a woman booked a full-face makeup appointment for $200 and went to her wedding. Now the makeup artist is upset because she normally charges brides $800 for the SAME makeup. Since when do we get mad because somebody didn’t pay a wedding markup? The makeup didn’t take any longer just because she was a bride! 😂

This AirBnB saga is making one thing abundantly clear: Evergreen generational meme continues historic run
It's blowing my mind how many grown adults think it's unreasonable to ask them to clean up their own dirty dishes when they rent a house with a full kitchen.

My other post about this, which is not a meme, is also blowing up The people have spoken. xitter.cf/sokolgeoff/status/2114…
All jokes & memes aside I think AirBnB: - true brand crisis - legit PR nightmare - existential risk to business model NOT bc its product, tech, app, use case, or any of its inputs are flawed But simply that its hosts don’t understand hospitality And may also be psychotic.

I actually agree with the hosts here that the guests should clean after themselves after they leave. That should be the bare minimum. I don’t use Airbnb regularly but that last times I did I cleaned because it’s a personal residential property that belongs to someone and you need to respect it. As a landlord I expect my tenants to leave the unit spotless after they move out. I actually expect my tenants to pay a cleaning company so they clean for them and show proof of receipt. Otherwise I’m deducting the costs of deep cleaning from their security deposit. I set my expectations very clearly in the lease agreement

Gotta give credit where due 🫡 Some bangers in here
The MOST obvious (but REALLY good) STARTUP ideas right now: 1. Zestimate for company data (what your data is worth to an AI lab) 2. Google Analytics for agents (see which agents visit your site and what they want) 3. Y Combinator for 1 person companies (back solo founders running a team of agents) 4. Okta for agents (who each agent is and what it's allowed to touch) 5. Marie Kondo for your company's data (clean it up so agents can use it) 6. FICO for agents (a trust score before an agent can spend money) 7. Geico for agents (insurance for when an agent makes an expensive mistake) 8. Datadog for agents (see every step your agents took) 9. Twilio for agents (phone numbers and texting for agents) 10. Upwork for agents (hire an agent for a job instead of a freelancer) 11. ESPN for AI (every model launch covered like a big game). 12. Shutterstock for robot training videos (get paid to film yourself doing chores) 13. Credit Karma for what AI knows about you (see it, fix it, delete it) 14. Norton for AI scams (protect your parents from fake voices and emails) 15. PayPal Buyer Protection for agent purchases (fixes it when your agent buys the wrong thing) 16. Geek Squad for AI (set up personal agents for families and small businesses) 17. Dell for private AI (AI in a box for firms that won't use the cloud) 18. Carfax for used GPUs (a health report before you buy secondhand) 19. Airbnb for idle GPUs (rent out computing power you're not using) 20. Rotten Tomatoes for AI models (real reviews instead of benchmarks) 21. G2 for skills (find the best skills for your agent) 22. Dropbox for your AI memory (take what your agent knows about you to any agent) 23. Canva for physical products (design it with AI and get it made) 24. ADT for your personal agent (alerts when your agent does something it shouldn't) 25. Hertz for robots (rent one for a move, a deep clean or an event) 26. Harvard Business School for internet businesses (a real education in building online) 27. Workday for agents (onboard, manage and offboard your digital workers) 28. Getty Images for your face and voice (license your likeness to AI safely) 29. Meta Muse for older adults (and other high LTV niche) 30. Google Ads for agents (pay to be what the agent recommends) 31. Loom for agents (a walkthrough of everything your agent did) 32. Plaid for agents (approved access to banks, airlines and stores) 33. Jiffy Lube for vibe coded apps (quick fixes when your AI built app breaks) 34. Ancestry for datasets (where your training data came from) 35. The organic label for human-made content (proof a person made it) 36. Strava for builders (track what you ship every week) 37. Honey that haggles for you (your agent negotiates the price) 38. SEM Rush for personal agent platforms (like Muse etc) 39. Frequent flyer miles for agents (loyalty programs built for agents)

I'd say that "AI will change the world” is a perfectly reasonable investment thesis. Unfortunately your broker would still like the additional collateral by Friday.

“Should I raise or stay bootstrapped? Which gets me the bigger exit?” Getting this wrong can be the most expensive misstep of your life. So it makes sense when the “what ifs” start. What if we raise and the new model doesn’t work? → We’ve taken dilution and pushed the exit back another 2–3 years. What if we stay bootstrapped and miss our chance at a platform valuation? → We sell as “just a contractor.” What if we raise less? → Is that enough to actually change the outcome? What if we don’t raise and growth stalls? → We’ll wish we had. Two questions can help clarify the economics: 1) What, specifically, would the capital buy that a future acquirer would pay more for? 2) If the bigger exit takes three more years and you own less of the company, how much better off are you? But the most important question is personal: What do you actually want? Let’s assume either path makes you wealthy and successful. Then what? What do you want your life to look like? It’s a Tuesday afternoon in the spring of 2029. The business is sold. The money is in your account. You have nothing on your calendar today. Or tomorrow. Or the next day. What do you want to do? #BusinessOwners #Entrepreneur #Founder #StartUp #Investing #FinancialPlanning

And can't own the dollar bc structural currency devaluation and soverign debt crisis brewing. I'm starting to come to terms with owning nothing and being happy. Let's just eat the bugs tbh
> can’t own stonks with capex slowing > can’t own crypto with quantum and ai risk > can’t browse the internet cause everything is hacked > can’t own software cause everything is hacked > can’t own gold cause alchemy is solved > can’t own bonds as inflation and crowding out hurting it > mfw

FinX is a strange place man Beginning years ago, this guy shared free charts w paths for higher metals & energy prices Then he basically called the top in PMs in Jan this year Since then he’s been advising patience & caution across assets - tricky conditions. I don’t have a dog in the hunt here (pun intended, see photo), but ffs guys just bc you have an anon frog profile doesn’t give you license to be a dickhead
I've had a lot of criticism in the last 24 hours. I'm insufferable', 'a grifter', 'arrogant', 'uncool', 'wrong so many times', 'f**k those guys' etc, etc. Instead of insults, why not just talk to me? If you disagree with a past post & think I was wrong, why not just ask?

Good news, guys. All you have to do is get to the top 0.2–0.3% Which is wealthier than about 99.7-99.8% of the rest of the world
This is your plan. Start today and you’ll have the best life possible. 1. Grow your account to $4M 2. Open up your own small family office 3. Raise your kids and teach them BEHAVIORAL finance 4. Once your kids reach 21, your family office fund is now worth $10M 5. Hire your kids and train them 6. You manage 95% of the fund, they manage 5% of the fund to prove they can make great investment decisions 7. By the time your 65, your fund is now worth $50M+ 8. You leave behind generational wealth and are proud of the life you created for your entire bloodline This is the only way to make sure your entire family bloodline for generational to come is safe.

This post blowing up (by my smol account standards) So just wanna say I fully endorse the ambition and do believe every individual has the capability to achieve enormous success. As for me? I’m well on my way 🫡 But it should never be framed as simply as: step 1) get to $4M.

People complaining about betting apps are missing the point. This is brilliant business thinking. The familiar argument: we’ve gone from Las Vegas to Robinhood options to betting on everything from our phones. Societal decay into degeneracy is the operating assumption. Then a business owner finds a practical use for the technology. Reuters reports that an LA hospitality group operating 25 bars used a $60,000 position on Kalshi to hedge against the Dodgers missing the World Series, according to the platform. Think about the exposure: Dodgers advance → more games, more customers, more business. Dodgers eliminated → lost revenue, but a position that pays out to help cushion the impact. The business already had the risk. This gave it another way to manage it. That’s a useful addition to the toolbelt. Of course, people can speculate recklessly. But dismissing every application means overlooking legitimate uses, including business risks that conventional financial products don’t neatly address. We’re thinking about these kinds of questions in portfolio construction and wealth management: What are you actually exposed to? What tools could help? Does the protection justify the cost? If you own a business, you should be asking those questions too. Keep an open mind. Sometimes a good idea shows up in packaging you don’t like. #FinancialPlanning #Dodgers #WorldSeries #Investing #RiskManagement
reuters.com/sports/la-restau…

The thing about “effective altruism” is that it could, unironically, have good intentions. Could even be a good idea. But you can look at something like the 'Inflation Reduction Act' of August 2022 and look at where consumer prices are now. Then you can understand how and why nail-on-the-head names like public benefit fund freak most of us out.
for the public good, today i will be donating 100% of my assets to a private llc that i control, dedicated exclusively to causes i personally like and activities i can profit from. please understand that this is entirely for the public good.

They just mean international NGOs, right?
We’re committing a portion of Anthropic’s shares to the Anthropic Public Benefit Fund, a new wholly owned entity dedicated entirely to the public benefit. It will start off with 5% of our shares. For every 50% increase in the company’s value over a set baseline, we can contribute up to an extra 2%, subject to our board’s discretion. In total, this means that roughly 20% of Anthropic’s shares are committed to the public good. Our co-founders have already pledged to donate 80% of their equity, and around half our employees are donating a portion of their equity as part of a donation matching program we’ve run since our founding. In the post below, we share more details about our new fund. anthropic.com/news/public-be…
