Been gettin' a lotta robots lately.
So if you're a real person who wants to use this app's chat function for some godforsaken reason.
Please pass my test of: sending me a brutal insult to start with
If you can't call me a fucking dumbass cocksucker immediately, then get out.
For THIS week I watched The Man from UNCLE.
In which Henry Cavill constantly talks like he's doing a radio ad.
Armie Hammer and Alicia Vikander have absolutely NO sexual chemistry whatsoever.
It felt like all the creative decisions were wrong, but it was still good somehow???
Oh shit, I forgot to mention I watched Down Periscope last week!
Pretty good. Don't see too many Submarine Warfare comedies.
I kept thinking it reminded me of Irresponsible Captain Tylor, but the two are almost definitely completely unrelated.
Oh right. Watched A Monster In Paris! Again!
This time I watched the French version.
Still good! I dunno if I like it better than the English dub, I'd have to watch both in relatively close succession to decide.
But it's still just a real solid movie all around.
I'm of two minds on this topic. The 1st one being "They are. They're just all offscreen."
The 2nd one, which I prefer, is: very powerful technology that executives decided was impractical for mass production but found great success in an individual's hands is a staple of sci-fi.
Replying to @KommiAttrition
teapawt.org/sophontsimp/status/211… it’s not that the cyberskeleton/capri are too weird or silly it’s that they have capabilities whose ramifications are totally ignored by the setting. Cyberskeleton implies drone/vehicles should be far, far more performant and capable than anything shown, Capri implies magneto powers everywhere.
And there's TONS of reasons that tech might be declared impractical!
Cost, rarity of materials, complexity of use, spite for the creator, beat by competition, excessive executive pride, poor demonstration of capabilities and probably more I can't think of right now!
Oh ho ho!
The mob umamusume Landsknecht dressed as a Landsknecht!
The Landsknecht Landsknecht!
Drawn by the ever talented @PantequilloCD !
Street Fighter (2026) is so fucking stupid man and also might be one of the greatest movies ever made.
As you can tell. I'm a really big fan of it.
I thought "they should make movies just for me, I know they'd be bad but...", but it turns out they're all fucking great.
There's also a lot of real hit-or-miss comedy.
Nothing I personally found intolerable, but I do think several characters suffered by having to be "the funny one"
THOUGH, to their credit, everyone kinda gets hit with "Okay, make a joke" stick every now and then. So... Eh.
Watched Shin Ultraman!
That movie feels a LOT like a compilation movie for a series.
It's moving a mile a minute nonstop. It's actually kind of exhausting.
Despite that, I fell asleep about an hour into the movie. For about 35 minutes? Which considering the movie's pace...
Watched Dirty Rotten Scoundrels!
Yeah. It was pretty fun.
For some reason I kept thinking "Steve Martin has never looked young a day in his life."
Watched Rock-A-Doodle!
Hrm.
What to say.
It felt spiritually similar to Little Nemo in Dreamland.
It felt like I was reading an old fairytale / folk story.
Where things just kinda happen and if you ask any questions you'll end up disappointed.
Oh right. Watched The Lair of the White Worm!
It uh. It's an...interesting...movie.
You really go "Wait, this was based on a Bram Stoker book?"
I'd be curious to see a more faithful adaptation some day. But it feels pretty unlikely.
Watched Resident Evil!
The thing I kept thinking while watching was that I felt like I was watching a live-action lets play.
Played by a guy who is isn't as funny as he thinks he is.
I did overall enjoy it. But I did think "Cringe." several times. So there's that.
Watched Little Nemo: Adventures in Slumberland!
It was very nicely animated.
But I kept thinking the entire time while watching it "Wow, this movie would be very easy to make completely non-verbal. And also would be vastly improved by doing so."
