A stunning defeat for a Trump-aligned right-wing leader in Europe.
Serbian President Aleksandar Vuฤiฤ, whose government cultivated close ties with Donald Trump and his family, has conceded defeat to a student-led opposition movement in a historic parliamentary election.
Trump's son Donald Trump Jr. personally met with Vuฤiฤ, while Jared Kushner pursued a major luxury real estate project with his government.
Now, after nearly two years of massive student-led protests against corruption and authoritarianism, Vuฤiฤ's ruling party has been defeated at the ballot box.
The student-backed movement is projected to win a parliamentary majority, ending more than a decade of dominance by Vuฤiฤ's party.
