Just noticed that Google Maps API has a gallery UI feature called Local Context. Not bad for showing a list of pictures and jumping to those locations for more details.

One thing that stands out with @openlayers is it's ol/source/Raster rendering which is super powerful. It is a low level API, that is what makes it so powerful, that works at the pixel level.
