A STAR OF DAVID IN JBEIL/BYBLOS? What is it doing there? And how much of Lebanon's history have we misunderstood, overlooked, or simply stopped questioning? Some years ago, while exploring Jbeil/Byblos (Geb'El), I noticed a six-pointed star (Hexagram)carved or displayed on the northern tower of the Crusader wall, right by the entrance to the famous old souk. What is it doing there? What can its presence tell us about the layers of history, symbolism and cultural encounters that shaped our Lebanese heritage? This is exactly why Discover Phoenicia exists: To go beyond the familiar historical narratives, document overlooked sites, investigate unusual details and make Lebanon's heritage accessible to everyone. At Discover Phoenicia, we investigate the details others walk past — through field expeditions, archaeology, research and documentary storytelling. By becoming a Patreon supporter, you help me: -Document forgotten and overlooked historical sites. -Produce exclusive field videos and research-based content. -Explore Lebanon's archaeological and cultural heritage. -Invest in better filming equipment and more ambitious expeditions. Your contribution helps keep OUR independent heritage exploration alive. ENTER THE PHOENICIAN ARCHIVE. Exclusive discoveries, field notes, documentaries and Lebanon's forgotten heritage. 👉 Become a Patreon member: patreon.com/discoverphoenici… #DiscoverPhoenicia #jbeil #Lebanon #PhoenicianHeritage #Archaeology

“The first step in liquidating a people is to erase its memory. Destroy its books, its culture, its history. Then have somebody write new books, manufacture a new culture, invent a new history. Before long the nation will begin to forget what it is and what it was.“ Milan Kundera. 📸 Radio Mount Lebanon - Georges Elias Hayek

📍 Hyde Park, Sydney Hyde Park, on the eastern edge of Sydney's CBD, is the oldest public parkland in Australia. Governor Lachlan Macquarie dedicated it in 1810, and it went on to host the colony's first official horse race meeting, early cricket matches and military drills…

Every Maronite and Druze with a clear head knows only Mount Lebanon will save them in their homeland. We started this project a couple of years ago, and now we hear people talking about it, even people we don’t know. That’s the power of speaking the truth. #MountLebanon Share this. Let the world hear a real voice for a real cause.

When some politicians in Lebanon pretend they are progressive, and want to cancel "sectarianism" in favour of "secularism"
فيك ما تكون مهتم بالسياسة بس السياسة ع طول مهتمة فيك

Check the comments under this post. They call you a traitor for not following the ideology they impose on you, then they call you "sectarian", then they get upset when you ask for federalism or separation. Federalism can be a way to allow each group in Lebanon to live according to their culture and what they believe in, and guarantees safety and a decent life for the people

The hypocrisy of the Lebanese government knows no boundaries. In a time where they let terrorists carry explosives and arms around and launch random wars, they go after a hero who is a leading figure in the resistance of the Christian border villages. Full support with Father Najib Al Amil #Lebanon #Rmeich

🇱🇧 Some keypoints discussed by Dr Amin Iskandar @Amineiskandar2 in this interview with @georgeshayek712: - In democratic Lebanon where different cultures live (sects), each sect needs to dominate the central government to impose its identity and how they see Lebanon on the others. - The Taef accord requires all different parties to agree, otherwise nothing gets done. This has caused Lebanon to be in a permanent state of paralysis, because the different "Lebanon(s)" don't wants the same thing. - Taef was made this way to allow the Syrian regime to rule. This was then passed on to Hezbollah. - Possible solutions and what the Christians need to do so they don't exit from history.

And their ancestors are part of the reason why that part of Europe didn't fall under the Ottoman empire and become Islamised. The EU has gone totally mad. The Geneva convention in the 1950s and the Assylum seeker and refugee laws in Europe were not made to sustain that many refugees, especially coming from countries where the culture and religion are different.
Praying for Poland 🇵🇱 and its president The EU is trying to crush Poland-the last real stronghold of the European right. They want another France. Another Spain. Weak. Woke. Flooded with illegal migrants. Overregulated. Unsafe. They will fail. The Polish people are not giving up their country, their culture, or their future. We will resist. We will defend. We will win.🇵🇱

Why do these sorts of posts come in my timeline? 🤦‍♀️🐶🤡Behold some verbal garbage from the head clown of Syria after a Lebanese priest has been murdered allegedly by a Syrian National

🇱🇧 Why does Lebanon have the highest proportion of Christians in the Middle East? Lebanon’s distinctive Christian presence was shaped by geography, history, education, political arrangements and international ties. Here are four factors explaining how this community maintained its place in the region. 🧵 A thread 1. Geography: The Mountain as a Refuge Lebanon’s rugged mountains offered Christian communities, particularly the Maronites, a refuge during periods of upheaval under the Umayyad, Abbasid and Ottoman eras. The terrain helped communities preserve their faith, traditions, Syriac heritage and church institutions.

A Quick Comparison with Neighbouring Countries 🇱🇧 Lebanon: The infographic estimates Christians make up around 34% of the population, with significant political influence. 🇪🇬 Egypt: It estimates around 10%. Although the proportion is lower, Egypt has the largest Christian population in absolute numbers in the region, particularly its Coptic Orthodox community. 🇸🇾 Syria: It estimates around 3–5%, noting that war, displacement and emigration have contributed to a substantial decline.

The broader point: Lebanon’s Christian history cannot be explained by population numbers alone. Geography, education, institutions, political arrangements and international relationships all helped shape its distinctive place in the Middle East.
