'Haatakam' is a wonderfully crafted Tamil Short story by Master storyteller Jeyamohan, adeptly translated into Telugu by @avineni . Jeyamohan expertly weaves Myth, reality, and folklore into the story.
Volume and quality of Work by Jeyamohan needs a dedicated publishing house in each of these languages that get translated into.
Bhaskar's choice of stories for translations says a lot about his literary sensibilities.
The story was published in Udayaini Magazine last week.

With immense faith, I am bringing my current film project to your attention. I am developing “Saracura” as a participatory cinema with the traditional Quilombola communities in Amazon Forest, Brazil. Quilombolas are African descendants who had rebelled Portuguese colonisers, resisted their cruel system of slavery and made Amazon their home. They are right now facing the brunt of climate change as their territories/islands on the shores of Amazon river are falling everyday.
I will be co-creating the film with Quilombolas, but not without your support. I am aiming to shoot the “Proof of Concept” in the coming weeks. I will use it to raise funds for the full film that is planned to be shot next year.
You always helped me with my earlier productions. Maadathy - An Unfairy Tale was entirely backed by audience. Now I appeal to you again to help me make this film. I need your support. Amazon is the lungs of our universe. We have to protect the communities who actually protect Amazon. Please help me make this film.

After close deliberations, the jury for the Armory Square Prize for South Asian Literature in Translation selected seven finalists to receive its inaugural award. Our jury will announce the winner from among them next week.
