My brother and I were running around the record shops of North London trying to find a copy of Gangsters BEFORE the Chrysalis distribution deal. I am proud to be an early adopter.

Was just about to comment about that Bev. Serendipity indeed (I'm pretty sure I reviewed a band called Serendipity at The Marquee supporting Marillion...)

I have absolutely no memory of this - any of it. Nothing.

Love the letter about BJH, with which I fully concur.
It dawned on me, at some point, that reviewers just didn’t like some bands but loved others blindly and from that moment on took reviews with a large dollop of salt!

And The Blitz Club was the start of something wonderful and the 80s started to look wonderful.

I was a Sunday night Bandwagon fan and remember the controversy over the sacking of Neal Kay. Great nights were had by all there but the management ruined the atmosphere with heavy handed bouncers and ridiculous prices (73 p a pint, outrageous!).

The Sheena Easton fan letter may have been written by Prince (Sheena made Prince look tall, btw) 😂
Still, Sugar Walls is a top tune.

The amazing @MadnessNews here outside my photographic studio in Islington. We had just completed a day of shooting in the studio and I suggested we shoot this last shot outside on a Morris 1000, car. I remember it well. Happy days with ‘The Nutty Boys’ #London #Madness #Photographer #MusicPhotography #MusicPhotographer

Here’s the Sounds ‘This Summer will be Casual’ cover with the first (and only!) Casual band who Bates allowed to play before a game at Stamford Bridge. Think it was 84, by which time no one up north dressed like this anymore! Have you got the article @SoundsClips ?

Sunday reading- @RobertElms classic Mail on Sunday article,1983. I think this was the first time we’d heard ‘casual’ used, it was dressers/flickheads in Leeds. This was before the Face and @SoundsClips casuals articles that year, but as he says, the look was already changing…

Dashed up to the Nov 5 Lancaster show after seeing Rovers beat Southampton in a stormy clash. Never realised it was the final date. Still have a poster somewhere. ‘Pump it Up’ debuted by Elvis that night. Blockheads closed the show.
