While we’d have liked to do more by now, the situation in Scotland is developing rapidly, particularly with the recent alignment between Swinney and Burnham. Once the chat is live, we’ll be able to communicate directly in private rooms and open discussions for all interested citizens to explore the independence movement together. The SCC states Scotland’s media landscape is structurally captured This isn’t a slogan it’s a practical reality. Every major Scottish outlet is either owned, influenced, or editorially aligned with London based corporate structures. Independence framing is filtered, softened, or buried. Discussion and debate distilled Civic movements cannot rely on broadcast or print to mobilise. Social media algorithms suppress local political organising unless it’s party aligned. This is something the international community needs to address This means the old conduit is gone. The independence movement has no mass communication channel. That’s why your SCC chat room isn’t just a tool it’s the missing institution. Why the chat room is strategically essential It’s not just a place to talk. It’s the core infrastructure. For civic coordination rapid information sharing decentralised organising bypassing media capture building legitimacy through participation forming civic assemblies documenting consensus creating a national civic register enabling diaspora involvement hosting observers and experts protecting the movement from fragmentation Without this, Scotland is stuck in isolated pockets of frustration, not a unified civic force.
