In January 2025 my mom’s lung cancer spread to her brain. The drug with the best chance of helping her was approved in China but not here. A doctor told me, almost as an aside, that if she were Chinese she could buy it at a pharmacy. So I flew to Shanghai and came home with 26 boxes in my luggage. That was 19 months ago. My mom is still here, still working, and in her words has had an amazing three years. The drug was approved in China in 2023. The FDA approved it in July 2025. It still is not for sale here. I know of at least 30 Americans who have made the same trip. I have been scared to tell this story because I worried it could cost my mom access to the medicine keeping her alive. But the problem matters more than my silence. These drugs need to be developed and available here, and that means FDA reform. Art Allen at KFF Health News told our story this week. It also ran in The Washington Post. kffhealthnews.org/health-ind…

Congolese diamonds have been laundered at the Ramat-Gan Diamond Exchange in Israel for decades. Gertler is a Chabadnik who uses his billions to fund Israeli settlements which means that Congolese oppression is intertwined with Palestinian freedom. Apple, Microsoft, Dell, and Tesla all sourced Cobalt via Glencore who is partnered with Gertler to build the devices everyone loves to use. “Conflict free” means the local population was killed off or displaced for heavy machinery to come in and do the mining. There is a link between the Congo, Sahel, Sudan, Ukraine, Israel, and the war in the Gulf. American foreign policy spearheads all of these efforts to secure “supply chains” for Wall Street and Silicon Valley. Africa is not at the table but decisions have already been made that the resources do not belong to the people on the continent
#FreeCongo 🇨🇩 The DRC bleeds while others profit. From blood minerals to alleged exploitation, Congolese lives are paying the price for a system that values wealth over humanity. This is why we demand justice, accountability and freedom. #CongoIsBleeding

“Let me die,” American photojournalist Heidi Levine repeats to journalists Jasper Nathaniel as they try to outrun masked Israeli settlers who attacked her on Friday while she covered the olive harvest in the West Bank village of Abu Falah, near Ramallah. Around 80 settlers attacked Palestinian olive harvesters in the village, AP reported. The Palestinian Red Crescent said it treated six people injured in two attacks in Abu Falah. Levine, a freelancer for the Washington Post, told the Committee to Protect Journalists that the settlers knocked her down and kicked her for at least 10 minutes, even after she identified herself as an American journalist. They stole her camera, phone and bag. She was eventually taken to a hospital in Ramallah. "The IDF provided cover, with tear gas and machine guns, while the settlers beat" Levine "nearly to death," Nathaniel wrote, adding that soldiers then shot a Palestinian bystander and aimed their guns at and shoved paramedics trying to treat him. AP photos and circulating videos show Israeli soldiers standing over a wounded Palestinian man after they shot him. Andrey X, an activist also at the scene, said a Palestinian man "saved our lives from the settler-terrorists who attacked the olive harvesters and journalists” armed only with a slingshot.
To be clear, the only reason I was able to reach Heidi was because young Palestinians provided cover with rocks against machine-gun- and tear-gas-wielding settlers and soldiers. It’s those kids, not the settler terrorists, who the IDF was hunting after the attack.

BREAKING: A computer glitch just left nearly 600,000 Texans’ voter registrations in limbo, days before early voting starts. Texas is scrambling to process a backlog of nearly 600,000 voter registrations after a state computer failure, with early voting opening Monday, per The Guardian. From October 2025 to February 2026, Texans who chose to register to vote on the Department of Public Safety’s driver’s license website got receipts confirming it. But their registrations were never actually recorded.

The question the West cannot answer honestly is this: At what point does a settler colonial project become legitimate? One hundred years? Two hundred? When the people displaced are sufficiently dead, assimilated, or defeated that their prior claim can be treated as historical rather than present? America solved this question by making it unaskable within its own borders. The dispossession of Indigenous peoples is curriculum. A chapter. Something that happened, past tense, before the "real story" began. Palestine is the question returning in real time, with cameras. And the cameras are the problem. Because the question was supposed to be settled.

A must-watch. 🎬 Feith tries to hide behind cold, robotic gov't speak to justify the Iraq War. But Pilger strips away the political jargon, forcing him to face the brutal reality of civilian deaths and blatant double standards. This is what journalistic accountability looks like.

The think-tanks that form US foreign policy never change, just like the corporations that fund both sides of the aisle don’t change. Most American voters have no interest in foreign policy and don’t care or understand where all the money is going. The empire has no color or party, a change in government has no effect on the people in the Global South. Tax dollars will continue to flow to plunder natural resources and protect corporate interests. A new congress might halt passing any bills to investigate Trump and his cronies’ corruption, but there will be no investigations on the corporations who have the full force of the government behind them to operate ruthlessly in every country in the world.
🇺🇸 On US Elections and the Absurdity of "Pausing" of Ending US Wars Because of Them It is incredible at this point it needs to be explained that US elections are meaningless esp. regarding foreign policy which hasn't and will not change before or after. The idea a US war set up under Democratic presidents and a Democratic-controlled Congress and now fought under a Republican administration will somehow "pause" for midterms is so absurd, I can't even fathom the thought process taking place by those proposing this. In fact, the Iran war technically started under the Biden administration when US-backed Israeli strikes were carried out against Iranian diplomatic missions in Syria, then on Iran itself - followed by the US-overthrow of Syria with direct war on Iran following only shortly after. All of this has continued, uninterrupted after Trump took office (as does war on Russia and preparations for war with China), and will continue no matter which of Wall Street's representatives take office this year. It was this exact flawed thinking that led millions of Americans and many commentators to enthusiastically anticipate the Trump administration ending multiple US wars, proxy wars and worldwide interference that has only - very predictably - expanded instead. Understanding a problem is paramount to solving it. If one thinks US policy is determined by electoral outcomes instead of by unelected corporate interests, focus will be placed on influencing otherwise meaningless elections only ensuring the problem persists. This is by design to prevent corporate interests from being the focal point of public attention instead of endless election cycles and an endless supply of disposable politicians. Western-style "democracy" is a system of control, not one of self-determination. While electoral cycles are designed to move us emotionally - empirically they are an exercise in manipulating, not empowering us.

Nidal Hasan was born in 1970 in Arlington County, Virginia. His parents migrated from Palestine to America in 1961 due to Israeli oppression against Palestinians. He is the eldest of three sons. He graduated from high school and then enlisted in the military at the age of 18. He studied college while on post, he went ahead to gain an associate degree in science, a bachelor’s degree in biochemistry, with honors, and minors in biology and chemistry, and an M.D. from medical school. He was also commissioned as an officer. His father passed away in 1998, and his mother passed away in 2001. Everyone who knew him said that he was gentle, quiet, and a sensitive man. He never harmed a fly in his whole life, never had a criminal record, was a straight A student, highly intelligent, and was exemplary. But in 2009, the military decided to deploy him to Afghanistan. Knowing the history of American support for the oppression of Palestinians, he could not accept this reality, that too in Afghanistan, the poorest Muslim country on earth, a country which suffered decades of occupation and turmoil, he couldn’t accept being part of the US occupation, he couldn’t accept being part of oppression. So he did something extreme, a man who never harmed a fly in his life, decided to kill his fellow comrades. The fork on the road drove him to sanity or madness, depending which perspective you look at it from. He killed and injured dozens of fellow soldiers who were going to be deployed to Afghanistan alongside him. He was shot in the chest, he survived but was paralyzed. In his trial, he admitted to everything. He said “evidence will show I was on the wrong side of America’s war, and I later switched sides.” He also said “We mujahedeen are imperfect Muslims trying to establish the perfect religion… I apologize for any mistakes I made in this endeavor.” In court he argued “defense of others”, he said that the war against Afghanistan was unjust, and that the fellow soldiers he killed were going to be deployed to harm others, the people of Afghanistan, and the government of Afghanistan. He could not accept that. He was sentenced to death on 28 August 2013, and today, the Trump government upheld the death sentence, and ordered that it must be done by a firing squad, and must be public. All Muslims around the world are afraid to tell his tale, because apparently this man’s life, and this man’s story is too scary to tell, because America hates him. But he was a human being, a very kind, gentle, and a highly intelligent human being that could not tolerate the “war on terror” terror which was being unleashed by the US government around the world. What he did was an extreme act of violence, but his story needs to be told. What drove the kindest and most harmless man to extreme violence? That too against his own? There is a lesson in that. The secret detention camps, the unimaginable torture, and the massacres unleashed on men, women and children can deeply affect the human conscience, even that of a soldier who is trained to not think.

This lunatic is to the left of Netanyahu and people think the elections will change the policy of this criminal regime 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Israeli Opposition Leader Yair Lapid: One minister suggests dropping an atomic bomb on Gaza. Another minister suggests starving children. All of it appears on screens around the world. They actively helped the false and poisonous genocide campaign. There was no genocide. It is a blood libel. I believe the IDF.

The World Bank was always clear in it’s policy towards underdeveloped nations. Any loan dispersed has terms that WILL NOT allow them to industrialize. A “general climate for private activity” means allowing American corporations to do whatever the fuck they want in the country. Everything is to be maximized for extraction and the target country is to remain a poor resource colony under “democracy”. People begging for American military intervention while suffering under these policies for decades is sickening From Michael Hudson’s Super Imperialism
