Yesterday, we had a productive post @SaharaSparks 2026 reflection and strategic meeting with the Ministry of Communication, Information Technology and Innovation in Zanzibar. Beyond reflecting on the success of Sahara Sparks, our discussions focused on agreeing on practical next steps to unlock the full potential of ICT, startups, innovation and emerging technologies in the Isles. My sincere appreciation to Hon. Dr. Mohammed Ali Suleiman, Minister; Hon. Mohammed Sijamini Mohammed, Deputy Minister; Hon. Fatma Mabrouk Khamis, Permanent Secretary; and Mr. Samora Chacha, Director, for the strategic engagement and their commitment to turning our shared ambitions into concrete actions. At Sahara Ventures, we believe Zanzibar has enormous potential to become a leading hub for innovation and emerging technologies in Africa. Realising this potential requires more than conversations and events. It demands bold leadership, strategic partnerships and, most importantly, consistent execution. @SparkSahara 2026 was not the destination. It was the beginning of the next chapter. @SparkSahara 2026: The Age of Abundance. What a journey! As we conclude Sahara Sparks 2026 in Zanzibar, I want to take a moment to appreciate everyone who has been part of this journey. First, a special appreciation to the Revolutionary Government of Zanzibar, particularly the Ministry of Communication, Information Technology and Innovation, for believing in this vision and supporting our efforts to position Zanzibar as an emerging hub for innovation, technology and entrepreneurship. To our partners and sponsors, thank you for trusting us and continuing to invest in building Africa's innovation ecosystem. To our speakers, innovators, entrepreneurs, investors, policymakers and everyone who attended, thank you for bringing your ideas, energy and perspectives to the conversations. To the Sahara Ventures team, I am proud of what we continue to build together. Organizing something of this magnitude is never easy, but your commitment and resilience made it possible. For me, Sahara Sparks has never been just about organizing another conference. It is about bringing together people, ideas, capital, technology and opportunities to unlock Africa's potential. This year's theme, Africa in the Age of Abundance, challenged us to think differently about our future. We are entering an era where access to intelligence, technology and opportunities will fundamentally change how economies and societies operate. But abundance will not automatically translate into prosperity. We have to be intentional about how we build, collaborate and create value. The Age of Abundance is just the beginning of the next 10 exponential years. The real question is, how do we position Africa to take advantage of this transformation?
