In hindsight; something had to give. A non-profit dedicated to beneficial AI for humanity, running a for-profit SV style startup, spitting out products, moving fast and occasionally breaking things. Not a stable bond.

My optimistic take: this will make OpenAI actually open. Opening up access to their models and leaving the building of marketable apps to startups. My pessimistic take: this will slow down OpenAI and not change the current approach to gen ai, which is big corp consolidation.

'tis the season for broken inflated egos

Twitter is so boring now. Where’s the drama? All I get is right wing nuts and motivational speakers… I long for the chaos.

As with all things, the impact of ChatGPT will short term be lower than enthusiastic people proclaim. And the long term impact will be substantially higher than skeptics think.

I’m asking our new overlords to show me recipes for holiday themed pizzas and it’s majestic.

Asking ChatGPT to do ASCII art is a trip.

I have no trust that _any_ tweet thread, blog post or newsletter is not ai generated.

Sequoia investing in SBF is the biggest failure of pattern matching I’ve seen.

Why are they focusing on the architecture? Twitter’s problem wasn’t scale or stability.

People are either in the camp of Elon Twitter being the best thing to have ever happened, or convinced that Elon will break Twitter forever. Neither is true. Twitter isn’t going anywhere. It also isn’t going to be more world changing than it already was.

This is true. And breakthroughs in AI are coming more and more often.
