11 years ago today I was diagnosed with Stage 2a Invasive Ductal Carcinoma. I had tumors in my breast and in my lymph nodes. I was 39. I am BRCA2+. If I hadn’t known, I wouldn’t have had a mammo and MRI so young. Know your risk for #breastcancer #BreastCancerAwareness
I was originally diagnosed with DCIS. Because I knew I was #brca2 positive, I chose a bilateral mastectomy. It was during the surgery they found cancer in my lymph nodes. Knowing my risk saved my life. My daughter was in kindergarten. I am her for her because I knew.
