Well, Aave just confirmed it.
The Binance hacker deposited $60 MILLION in USDT and borrowed 19,762 ETH against it.
Around $44.6 million worth of ETH at the time.
And here’s the crazy part.
He did it roughly 40 minutes before Aave started freezing its markets.
The lending position is still overcollateralized, so Aave says its users aren’t currently at risk.
But the hacker managed to turn $60M in freezable stablecoins into nearly $45M in ETH before the restrictions kicked in.
Pretty incredible timing.
This is exactly why I find DeFi so fascinating.
The Binance hacker might have just pulled off one of the smartest moves I’ve seen in crypto.
First, Tether froze $1.5 billion in USDT.
Then Circle froze another $800 million in USDC.
At that point, it looked like the hacker’s money was trapped.
But apparently, he had already planned for that.
Instead of holding the stolen USDT in a wallet, he allegedly deposited it into Aave and used it as collateral to borrow ETH.
Then he walked away.
That’s where the story gets crazy.
Tether can freeze the USDT sitting in the wallet.
But it can’t freeze the ETH he already borrowed.
So now Aave is left holding frozen collateral, while the hacker is sitting on liquid ETH.
And unless the protocol can recover it somehow, he may not even need to pay the loan back.
Two companies froze billions of dollars in seconds.
But someone who understood how to use DeFi may have found a way around both of them.
Pretty insane when you think about it.
Readers added context they thought people might want to know
The described Aave deposit used only ~60M USDT as collateral to borrow 19,762 WETH before freezes hit the main wallet, not the bulk of funds; Aave states the overcollateralized position is subject to normal liquidation with no material protocol risk.

The best use of meteora DBC $cometail
@MeteoraEco @MeteoraAG @SuperteamEarn @colosseum
7 ways to launch.
Every coin on cometail.fun runs on a Meteora DBC preset we own. The basics are the same on all seven:
- 0.01 SOL to launch
- Fixed supply of 1,000,000,000
- 1% trade fee on the curve, and 60% of it goes to the creator
- At graduation the coin moves to a Meteora DAMM v2 pool that compounds its fees
- All of that liquidity is locked forever. 80% sits in the creator's position, so the creator keeps earning the pool's fees
One post per preset below.

We just updated our pitch video.
COMETAIL is a fee layer for Meteora. Launches whose fees burn $COMETAIL and lock liquidity, an index of every DBC pool's fees, and vaults that let creators sell their future fees.
We updated our @SuperteamEarn submission with the new video. Our @colosseum entry was already submitted, so the video fields are locked. We added the new video to the fields we can still edit instead.

The tail isn't just another token. It's part of how the COMETAIL protocol is designed to work.
Ever wondered why we say "sell your future fees" on COMETAIL?
Because the whole idea behind tails is to feed the main token, not compete with it.
$tCOMETAIL is our own example of that.
Every time the tail generates fees, 50% goes back to $COMETAIL:
- 25% buys and burns $COMETAIL
- 25% adds permanently locked liquidity to the $COMETAIL pool
- The remaining 50% goes to the protocol
Our platform fees also go through the existing burn program, adding even more burns for $COMETAIL.
And no, you don't need to hold $tCOMETAIL to benefit from those burns and added liquidity. $COMETAIL remains our main token. Same supply, same contract.
We're experimenting with the best of @MeteoraAG 's DLMM and DBC for the hackathon, building something where launching another coin doesn't have to mean draining attention and liquidity from the original.
That's what tails are supposed to do. Give the main token another source of activity, burns, and liquidity.
$tCOMETAIL was launched from the same dev wallet as $COMETAIL.

Genuinely hilarious that OpenAI totally copied Grok Bot with Dots, then SpaceX bought dot.com and redirected it straight to Grok Bot. A masterclass in trolling. 😂

Holy shit, wtf is WRONG with Gemini Flash 3.8?!? It has serious mental problems. Look at this session... imagine my surprise when my standard "sync all my repos" prompt went off the rails like this... this LLM needs THERAPY. And no, there is nothing about ANY of that on my box.
